"Mall trip! Mall trip!"
"Mall trip!!"
"Mall trip!"
"Mall trip!!!"
"Mall trip!"
"MALL TRIP!"
"SHADDUP YOU EXTRAS, YOU MAKE ME WANNA BLAST MY EARS OFF!"
So the day was going great.
1-A organized a mall trip to prepare for the training camp. Almost everybody was there, though Shoto couldn't make it, since he was visiting his mother. I told him to give Rei a big hug for me. But hey, almost everybody was here! Mina was bouncing out of her skin with excitement, and I couldn't blame her; I was, too. The Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall was known as one of the best quirk-inclusive malls in the entire country. Of course I was hyped!
"So, I know I should probably be doing some more 'responsible' shopping," I chattered happily to Midoriya and Ochaco as I stepped through into the open-roofed building, "But look at this! My mom got it for me as a reward for doing so well this year!"
I whipped out a brand new Nintendo Lite from Hammerspace, waving the light blue console around in the air. The console came from the pre-quirk era, but since most innovation went into quirk control and support items after the first superpowers showed up, not many consoles have come out since. The Nintendo switch was still respectable as ever. Ochaco squealed with excitement.
"Oh my gosh! Does that mean you can finally-?"
"Yes!"
We stared at each other for a moment, then threw our hands up in the air and yelled, "KIRBY GAMES!"
I then had to catch my Switch from falling to the ground and shattering, because I accidentally threw it. Thankfully, I managed a clumsy save.
"Why don't we split up and look around?" Kirishima suggested. "Let's say we're all back around three?"
Everyone called back their assent and began to pair off. Kirishima grabbed Bakugou's arm and dragged him into a shop with a bunch of camo and all-terrain clothing. Momo hesitantly offered Jirou her arm as she pointed towards a shop on the second floor, and Jirou took it (not without turning the color of a tomato first).
Mineta made a beeline for the nearest Victoria's Secret, followed by a very unhappy Tokoyami, just to make sure nobody had to call mall security.
I jogged off alone, taking the escalator up a floor to the nearest GameStop. I already had everything I really needed for the camp, and even if I was missing something, Kirby took priority.
The GameStop was fairly empty and poorly lit, as usual, and I skipped my way right back to the left wall of the store where the Nintendo games hung, chanting, "Kir-by, Kir-by, Kir-by," under my breath.
There it was. A used copy of Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Finally, the sacred game touched my hands.
"Excuse me." A raspy voice, well, rasped from behind me. I jumped a little and stepped out of the way for a man in a hoodie to scan the shelves, pale fingers lingering on a copy of Switch Sports, one pinkie hovering in the air above it.
Wii Sports Resort was better.
Something slightly bothered me about the guy, though, besides his choice in Nintendo Sports games (or maybe he already had Wii Sports Resort, though the console was discontinued, so maybe not-? No, wait. Focus). He looked familiar, or maybe he sounded familiar? What was it that Aizawa said about warning feelings? A hero's intuition, he called it.
