MUCH TO REECE'S chagrin Gryffindor, surprisingly, beat Hufflepuff on the first Saturday in May, but it was with a three hundred-point margin because George Turner had been in the hospital wing and it only added to Reece's stress.

The score put Gryffindor in the lead with Ravenclaw just narrowly ahead of Hufflepuff. At least Slytherin was out but it meant that unless Reece managed to beat Gryffindor by more than a hundred and seventy-point margin, Potter would win the Cup.

Yrsa did indeed pass her Apparition test but her excitement about it died completely within a week because as her sixth year neared its end, she was expected to able to perform nonverbal magic in all her subjects which is bloody torture, isn't it? I can barely get verbal magic done right. Indeed, as she appeared in front of Reece where he sat alone in the library, she looked more tired than he had seen her in a while, evidently not having even bothered to put in makeup that morning which she usually did on a daily basis.

"Hey, mind if I sit with you? Ashley's got an Arithmancy project with Hestia and I don't want to disturb them." He nodded. However, Yrsa had done no more than pull out a quill from her satchel bag when two new people entered and she returned it right back in before returning the strap to her shoulder. "Actually, I need to go."

"But you just got here," Reece protested.

Glancing fearfully at Sirius and Remus who were dropping their bags onto the floor beside the table (which was only partly in Reece's field of vision because he was seated right beside a marble support column) she said, "I've remembered I made plans with Ashley," with her voice rising in pitch.

He wasn't certain whether to be confused, worried, or amused. "You just said she was working on Arithmancy."

"Right I meant Lily," she covered up, not even bothering to make the lie convincing. "I'll see you at dinner."

Without giving him the chance to say another word, she had turned away, but as she scurried past the table, Sirius called, "Oi, Yrsa!" she responded without looking, "I'm busy right now Sirius," and hurried out.

As soon as she had disappeared amongst the bookshelves, Remus smacked Sirius with his copy of Advanced Potions Making which caused him to rip it out of his hands and Remus attempt to get it back which resulted in the two wrestling over the choice of weapons silently for half a minute until Remus finally straightened up with the book in his hand which he dropped onto the table. "Fuck off, Padfoot, what the fuck are you doing?" he hissed as he pulled out his chair and sat down, though continued to glare at his friend as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Sirius did his best to suppress a smirk. "Calm down, I was just wanting to talk to her," he said as he sat on the chair opposite and put his hands up as a sign of surrender. "Completely innocent." The words were barely out of his mouth before the smirk broke out fully, threatening to split his face in half as smugness dripped from him like juice from a compressed fruit.

"I don't fancy her," Remus said firmly in a way that made it clear it wasn't the first time he had declared it and Reece got the sense he was continuing a previously interrupted conversation. "We've never talked to each other," he continued. Reece knew he shouldn't be listening, it was their private conversation, but how was he supposed to ignore it? Could anybody blame him for listening in when it was Remus Lupin talking about his sister? "How could I possibly fancy someone I've never talked to?"

"Yes, you have talked to each other plenty of times," Sirius contradicted and he started to say that not really, not properly but Sirius continued, "And Prongs started fancying Lily after seeing her for ten minutes."
