Welcome to one of my ONC projects for 2024.
What fandom am I writing for?
Avatar: The Last Airbender
What prompt am I using?
I'm using prompt ninety-nine which resulted in this AU popping into my head, "The royal family needs a male heir to the throne, and they're willing to accept any boy, even if he's born to their least hinged relative."
How am I using the prompt?
I am writing an AU to a fanfic series I am working on called To Lose or To Gain which involves the public thinking Ozai willingly gave his firstborn son to his older brother Iroh after Iroh loses his son Lu Ten, but in this alternate universe to that Ozai's treason--his demanding his brother's birthright--is public knowledge, as well as the fact he tried arranging for his father to be killed by his own wife and the fact he tried killing Prince Zuko.
Prince Zuko still becomes Iroh's heir in the story, but in this he's having to deal with the public knowledge that his father is unhinged, but the twist to prompt is that the least hinged relative managed through his own unhinged acts to create an even more unhinged family member, his own daughter and Zuko's younger sister, Princess Azula thus making the public's worry about Prince Zuko also being unhinged far worse.
