It has been a few days since the Min Royal family arrived back in Elysian Avaloria, and Taehyung has been on edge ever since.
His mother, seeing this, organized a lunch with all his favorite foods in the patio, and that is where they currently were.
As The midday sun cast a warm glow over the patio of the Avalorian main palace, where Taehyung sat with his mother, Queen Elana, and his soon-to-be brother-in-law, Hoseok, they enjoyed meals prepared by the queen consort herself.
The air was filled with the gentle rustle of leaves and the soothing melody of songbirds, creating a tranquil ambiance befitting of the royal setting.
As they enjoyed their lunch in the serene surroundings, their peaceful moment was abruptly shattered by the unexpected arrival of unwelcome guests.
The imposing figures of the former Queen Eudora's parents loomed at the entrance to the patio, their stern expressions displaying their distaste.
Taehyung's heart sank at the sight of them, knowing all too well the animosity they harbored towards him and his mother. But Moreso, his mother.
He exchanged a worried glance with Elana, who remained composed despite the tension that crackled in the air.
Without hesitation, the unwelcome guests barged into the patio, their presence casting a shadow over the tranquil scene. They wasted no time in directing their thinly veiled shots towards Elana, their words laced with disdain.
"Lilibet," they addressed Taehyung, using the name they insisted upon, Not that he hated it, but he hated how they said it, and why they used it.
"it's a surprise to see you here, dear. We thought you'd be off playing with your dolls or embroidering lace like a proper young lady."
Hoseok's eyes widened at not only the tone, but how they referred to the youngest Avalorian prince.
Taehyung bristled at the demeaning tone; his jaw clenched in frustration. He shot a glance at his mother, silently pleading for her to intervene, but she remained unruffled, her expression a mask of serene composure.
Ignoring the barbs directed at her, Elana greeted her unwanted guests with a gracious smile, her voice betraying none of the tension that simmered beneath the surface.
"Ah, Mother, Father," she greeted them warmly, her tone dripping with polite civility, "what a pleasant surprise to see you. Won't you join us for lunch?"
The parents of the late queen exchanged a disdainful glance, their lips curling in thinly veiled contempt. They begrudgingly accepted Elana's invitation, taking their seats at the table with an air of superiority.
Throughout the meal, they continued their barrage of backhanded compliments and veiled insults, each word a subtle reminder of their disapproval towards Elara and their disdain for Taehyung.
"I see there's no new heir, Elara," The former advisor noted.
Queen Eudora's parents are from a Kingdom North-East - Nuestra Familiar - thus their systems were a bit different.
Even though her mother was the King's wife, and thus a Queen, she opted to be a royal advisor as well as a queen. Thus, she always had high expectations for her daughter. Who had no qualms fulfilling said expectations.
Until she sadly passed away.
The former king and queen of Nuestra were not happy when they heard that Demetrius was set to remarry not even a month after their daughter died giving him yet another child. Let alone, to an outsider.
