Chapter 4

I hoped my dad was alright. I had helped him write that article, and I didn't want him to get in trouble. He is sick, you know, as i said before. In St Mungos because a death eater hit him in the heart. I suppose he'll be alright there. I sighed. But as long as I was with Neville, I guess I was safe too. Summer holidays were drawing nearer, and I didn't have a home to go to. Dad was very sick, and they said he wouldn't be let out for quite a while. "You can always stay at my house if... Something happens," Neville would say each time I brought up the subject. I knew by "if something happens" means if he dies. I continued walking to the Great hall for dinner. As I walked in, I saw Parvati Patil incredibely close to Neville. They were both laughing, Parvati batting her mascara heavy eye lashes. I felt a surge of rage. I rushed over and pulled Neville away. "Hi, boyfriend," I said harshly. "Oh... Hi Luna. Me and Parvati were just talking about the incident that happened today." he said. He sounded like he didn't want me to be there, interrupting him and Parvati's special little moment. "Oh, you were so brave," Parvati giggled. I blew a hair away from my forehead. "Well let's go sit down, Neville," I said, pulling Neville onto an extra table. But before I could say a word, Professor Flitwick came up toward us and said in a squeaky voice, " Miss Lovegood, come quickly! Your father is about to die!"

(P.O.V Neville)

I hated seeing Luna like this. She was kneeling at her fathers side, with a tear-stained face. "L-Luna..." he said. Luna looked up. Then Xeno looked at me. "Keep- my- daughter-s-safe..." and with that said, his head flipped onto one side, and the doctors came rushing towards Luna. "We're truly sorry, Miss Lovegood, there wasn't anything we could do," the nurse was saying. "Luna was still holding Xeno's hand, and she burst into a fountain of tears. I tried to comfort her the whole ride back to Hogwarts, but it was no use. Her heart was too broken. She would come to live with me, after moving all her things out of her old house. "Tell her to stay in bed, Longbottom, she won't be able to study in this state." Professor Mcgonogall whispered to me. But Luna insisted to study in her dorm, since she wanted to keep up.

Summer holidays finally arrived, and Luna had moved everything into my house. She said goodbye to her house for the last time. My grandmother was trying atleast, to make an effort around Luna. Luna improved in the next few days, and we grew closer and closer. We organised Xenophilius's funeral, and by then she was back to normal. Luna, I hoped, would stay with me for a long time, if not forever.
