................... .................. ..................

Tuesday. Two more days until her date with Caden. She couldn't wait; she was so excited!

"Natalia, snap out of it." Natalia's eyes widened and she shook her head out of her thoughts.

"Sorry, dad," She chuckled. "What were you saying?"

Chase cleared his throat. "I was asking if you wanted to catch lunch later today. I wanted to talk to you about something." He repeated. Was it something bad?

"Um, yeah sure." She replied nervously. She was hoping that she wasn't in trouble or anything.

"How about Ollie's Diner? I'll pick you up at 6." Natalia thought about it.

"Yeah that's a good place. See you then daddy." She proclaimed before ending the call. She sighed and stood up from her bed and stumbled towards her bathroom. After brushing her teeth, she brushed her messy hair until it looked somewhat decent.

When she walked back into her bedroom, she went through her closet and looked for something to wear.

After 10 minutes of raiding her closet, she finally found something that looked cute; a burgundy Hollister hoodie with light wash denim skinny jeans.

She pulled her hair back into a bun and did her makeup, just a little bit of mascara and peachy-pink lip gloss.

After feeling satisfied with her look, she stepped out of her apartment with her car keys, purse, and phone.

She got settled in her car and put the keys in the ignition, watching it roar to life. She pulled out of the complex and sped down the street at an appropriate speed.

15 minutes later, she arrived at Adams Little Sunshines. After parking the car, she stepped out and walked towards the small building.

"Hello, Adam." Natalia greeted politely when she saw him sitting on a chair near the door.

"Hey Nat!" He said happily. "Emily's waiting for you." He pointed at Emily who sure enough was waiting at the door patiently for her to show up.

She dropped her bag and ran towards Emily, picking her up and spinning her around. She put her back on the floor safely after a few spins and crouched down to her level.

"Hi Nat!" Emily greeted with a huge toothy grin on her face.

"Hey babygirl." Natalia responded delightedly. She wrapped her arms around her lanky waist and kissed her on her forehead.

Emily trued to squirm out of her grip while laughing hysterically. Natalia let go and Emily ran away into her room.

Natalia stood up and put her hands on her hip. "I missed her." She exclaimed. Adam chuckled and walked towards her. "I guess I should go in there and see how the other kids are doing." She said quickly before walking away from him.

"Hey Caden." Natalia greeted when he saw him playing with a little girl. She had to admit, he was pretty great with kids-- especially little girls. Wow, he is such a ladies man.

"Hey," He stood up walked away from the girl before pulling Natalia into a hug. "How're you?" He asked sweetly when he pulled away.

"Good." she replied nervously, feeling the blush rise up to her cheeks.

"Is he your boyfriend?" Josh asked, walking towards the two. Natalia laughed loudly.

"No," Not yet. "How are you doing little man?" She asked him while extended her hand to ruffle his brown hair.

"Good!" He stuck his thumbs up then just walked away.

The rest of her morning was spent watching little kids and Caden playing with barbies.

--

Natalia slung her bag over her shoulder and walked up the front steps to her dads house. She rung the doorbell once and he opened it quickly.

The look on his face was confusion. "What are you doing here, sweetie? I was going to pick you up." He stated while he reached over to give her a hug.

"I didn't feel like waiting so I just decided to come here instead." She explained, walking farther into the house. She took off her jacket and draped it across a chair in the dining room.

"You look beautiful, sweetheart!" Chase called over his shoulder as he walked up his staircase. "I'm going to get dressed, I'll be right back!" He yelled. Natalia nodded and looked around the house. The last time she lived here was last year when she was a senior in high school.

While she was waiting for her dad, she decided to go to her old bedroom which was on the first floor. She pushed open the door and it creaked. All of her things still looked in place; her bookshelf, her flat screen TV, her dressers, and bean bag chair. Even her collage of pictures were still stuck to the wall. She grazed her fingers over the photographs and observed them. She smiled at the picture where her legs were wrapped around Chase's waist and her arms were hanging on his neck. That summer they decided to go to Hawaii for vacation. It was only when she was seven years old, a year before her mom's death. Her smile fell when she saw a picture of her and her mother. Natalia's little fingers were wrapped around her moms ring finger. Her mom was smiling wide, her eyes were shining bright, and her natural blonde curls were flying in the wind.

Just then, she heard Chase clear his throat.

"You okay?" He asked, taking slow steps towards her. When he reached her, his arms wrapped around her body. He rested his chin on her shoulder and sighed deeply.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she turned around and smiled at him. "Let's go, shall we?" Chase nodded his head up and down as he linked his large arm with Natalia's small one.

--

"I want you to think about how hard it is for you to work two jobs and go to school," Chase paused and took a sip of his drink. "Isn't it too much for you?" He asked with concern. Natalia sighed as she tied her fingers together.

"You want me to quit one job, don't you?" She asked impatiently.

"It's only whats best for you, sweetheart " He sighed. "I'm not forcing you, because it's your choice, and I respect that," he grabbed Natalia's hands and squeezed them for reassurance. "Which job do you enjoy better?"

Natalia picked up her fork and immediately dropped it; she kind of lost her appetite. "I enjoy working at the Daycare better because you know how I love kids," She paused. "But I also love my friends at my new job and I like how they pay."

"Okay," Chase sat back and rested his chin on his intertwined hands. "Well I just want you to know that education comes first, then jobs come next. School should be your first priority." He said sternly. Natalia nodded her head in understanding.

"I know, dad," She sighed as she put her straw in her mouth and took a sip. "I guess I'll tell Dylan about this... Those kids need me, they'll be devastated if I ever left. You saw how they reacted when Jesse left. Emily was heartbroken," She paused again. It's just that... the people at Science Tech made me feel really welcome there. But it's not like I'm really doing anything, except recording scientific things." She explained sadly.

"So what are you going to do?" Chase asked eagerly.

"I'm going to quit."
