Ireyna felt a calm sense of peace. There was no fear, no anxiety, just....peace, persisting even when she felt the absence of Killian's hand, even at the realization she was alone.

Ireyna saw the last remnants of glittery sparkles before whiteness closed her eyes. There was no pain, just peaceful bliss.

Everything felt like a dream. Ireyna continued to sleep, unconscious of her power being taken away, of her Iredescent memories being replaced with fake memories to assimilate her into the Real world.

Her immortal fairy glow disappeared, and Ireyna was finally a mortal human, unaware of the butterflies that died in another world.

Sunlight streamed through the window blinds, filling the light purple bedroom with natural light. Butterflies took flight, disappearing through the window.

Eyes opened on a lovely porcelain face framed with reddish brown hair, revealing purple irises that sparkled in the morning sunlight. As it turned out, Ireyna's blue eyes became purple.

The third alterself with purple eyes.

Ireyna found herself on a bed of soft white pillows, silky sheets, and a very comfortable mattress. Her iridescent purple dress turned into a pinkish purple gown that made a ruffling sound as she moved.

A book rested beside her pillow, revealing the truth.

It was her own book, and she was the author.

The author named Éirina Blaskevyuk, formerly known as the fairy named Ireyna Roseshimmer Decuir.

Lian Drezeir sat in his sleek metallic emerald green Honda Civic. The only sound was the car engine running in the cold winter air.

He glanced at his young adult son sitting beside him in the front passenger seat. The tension was so tangible he could feel it sizzle the air with lingering electricity. Lian moved uncomfortably in his seat, unsure how to repair things with his son, David Drezeir.

David returned home from college on winter break to spend time with his estranged father. Lian's wife Vanessa died in a homicide many years ago, leaving Lian as a single father.

His oldest daughter, Marina Drezeir, worked at a remote space center in Cieland. Marina married a handsome man named Rinsen Lenice and had a daughter named Amira.

Things were tense between Lian and David. David tried unsuccessfully to melt his father's gruff demeanor. He wasn't sure why things were so tense. He felt his father grieved long enough. David wanted to bridge the distance between them, disliking how emotionally distant they were. He was finally home, within physical distance, so perhaps the emotional distance could be repaired.

He sensed a deep void in his father's life, a hollow emptiness that plagued him with loneliness. Maybe he missed his wife too much. Maybe he got used to the solitude and David was disrupting things for him. Maybe he wished David would go back to college so he could drown alone in his never-ending sorrow. Maybe –

"Father, let's go inside the bookstore. I want to check out the newest book from the Sparkling Glitter series. It is called 'The Glitterescent'," said David, interrupting his own contemplative musing. Things wouldn't change unless he attempted to thaw the ice somehow.

When Lian remained silent, David persisted. "Please, Father."

"Alright, Son," Lian murmured, turning the ignition off.
