Ireyna awoke, but she didn't open her eyes, pretending to remain asleep while Killian continued to pace. Ireyna waited until Killian's back was facing her before she released a ribbon of purple energy, zapping Killian with enough voltage to harmlessly knock him out. The ribbon wrapped around Killian, keeping him from falling to the floor, placing him on the sofa where she had lain.

An opalescent tear dripped onto Killian's shirt as Ireyna kissed Killian. "I love you, Killian. It is because I love you that I must go through with my endeavor," Ireyna said softly, kissing him once more, before she left the library.

Moments later, Killian felt a touch on his face, rousing him to consciousness. The sight of fallen groceries indicated that Drave and Erasmo came home shortly after Ireyna quietly knocked out Killian and left him in the library.

She didn't even kiss me before she left, Killian thought disappointedly, unaware Ireyna kissed him before she left. Depression struck Killian when he realized he had failed to deter Ireyna.

"Ireyna must've knocked me out unaware. There is only one reason why she would do so. We must alert the Fairy Queen." Killian put on his trench coat and seized his sword. He had just put his boots on when Drave informed, "Ireyna took your spaceship. We'll have to take Rose Wing."

Another pang of depression struck Killian. "Lead the way," he murmured, allowing Drave to take charge.

Killian stood at his side and Erasmo hovered at his shoulder as Drave navigated the ship, setting course for the Fairy Queen's castle.

Upon receiving Ireyna's urgent telepathic outreach, Casim responded, I'm gathering ink on Natvolo. We will rendezvous in the Field of Stars on Chatt-ruin. See you soon, fairy.

Relief surfaced in Ireyna's voice. I am headed there now. See you soon, Casim.

Half the butterflies left via a metallic blue butterfly-shaped spaceship; the other half remained with Casim.

To Mara, Casim verbally said, "Well, fairy, I'll make this simple. Who are you and where is the real Ireyna?"

"You know who I am." Nervous anticipation faded, crumbling underneath Mara's natural confidence.

Casim's eyes glittered darkly. "I suppose it wouldn't do to have you follow me further, since I am no longer unaware of your deception. I must admit, that was clever of you to wear Ireyna's power to disguise your true appearance. Isn't that right, Mara Decuir?"

"Mara Leeiyor," Mara corrected, since she had taken her husband's last name. "You missed my wedding."

"I received neither an invitation nor a notification. I was unaware of updated information, since I was busy with matters of my own."

A realization appeared on his face. "So, you are the reason Ireyna contacted me. Killian has grandchildren because of your marriage. No wonder Ireyna hastened the endeavor."

Ireyna might start the endeavor without him, since she is so determined. I must keep the two separated, so the real Ireyna won't agree to his scheme. Stars above, the galaxy would be in so much trouble if the endeavor and the scheme proved successful....

Mara took slow deep breaths to calm her thoughts. "Your scheme requires a great amount of power. When were you planning to coerce Ireyna to use her power for your scheme?"
