Once again, I found myself in a dark pit.
Beside me, I could hear the scratchiness in (Y/n)'s breathing and Harley's shaking hand in mine. My hand was the first to ignite. Everyone exhaled a breath of relief as the firelight met their eyes.
(Y/n) took a deep breath, her eyes still closed. She opened them, and the deep blue caught me by surprise once again.
She rummaged around in her satchel and pulled out a couple of pieces of crate -from our first, which I quickly lit and passed around.
With newfound light, we descended into the labyrinth, looking for the glowing purple symbol of Bia. (Take that, Liam! >:P)
(Y/n) walked to the front with Nico and Melog, deep in conversation with the Naiad. I had seen Melog around camp for years but never really talked to her.
Most of the water Naiads kept their distance from the camper on fire for fear of being extinguished or something.
But I knew she was loyal, and if I betrayed her trust, I'd be sorry. I'd seen her sharpening her sickles before we left, and believe me, I was not going to mess with her.
Harley was fidgeting with a mass of cogs and wires beside me, Festus perched around his neck. However, it looked like he might abandon my brother for (Y/n) any minute.
Will and Liam walked behind us. Let's just say I was not beyond thrilled when (Y/n) made him another deal.
I was this close to getting rid of the guy!
Besides lighting my temper, he gave off some creepy connection to (Y/n). He kept giving her knowing glances and whispering things to her when they were alone. It gave me the chills.
Way too absorbed in Liam than I should ever be, I ran smack into (Y/n)'s back.
She glared at me before slowly creeping forward out of the metallic spaceship hallway. We entered a large open stone dome full of natural light to the point where we put out our torches.
Large leaves and vine patterns were carved into the floor and surrounding areas, leading to a chiselled flower in the center.
"What is this place?" I asked aloud, seeing the mixed looks on everyone's faces.
"I'm not really sure. Liam?" (Y/n) ran her hand over a design on the wall, and I noticed a ring on her finger that wasn't there before.
"I-I have no idea, but I get the feeling we need to go through there."
He pointed to the other side where a second opening stood. I took a deep breath and walked forward.
"Cool. So we just need to cross through here and-" Something clicked beneath my foot, and (Y/n) shot me a "what the hell did you do" look.
Trust me, it did not make me feel safe or warm.
Both openings immediately closed, trapping us in the floral room. The eight of us huddled together, Festus jumping to Harley's side. A scratching sound began to echo throughout the dome. It sounded like someone had let loose a crab on the walls. Will clutched his medic bag as Nico stood with his Stygian Iron. Melog had out both of her sickles, and my muscles clenched, ready for a fight.
Suddenly, the noise stopped, leaving our ragged breathing bouncing off the walls.
"Leo," Harley's voice was small as he tugged on my sleeve, "Look up."
I did and immediately regretted doing so. Long green tendrils snuck their way out of an opening in the ceiling. They fell from the hole, landing on the ground with a spalt, squirming like some spaghetti-snake monster. With the crackling sound of scratching joints, a large red bulb descended from the opening, hanging above us and then, without warning, it opened.
