Avalon woke up the next morning and saw Lucy licking Grace's face.
"Ugh. Get this mutt off me." Grace said as she pushed the dog off the bed.
"She's harmless." Avalon said as she went over to comfort her whimpering dog.
"It's bad enough I have to share a room with you." Grace said. "I'm not sharing it with a mutt, as well."
"Stop calling her a mutt." Avalon said. "I'm not happy about the situation either, but it is what it is." She started to get ready for the day. She didn't have time to deal with Grace today. She was already nervous enough about trying out for equestrian today.
The day went by too quickly for Avalon's liking and she was heading towards the equestrian field with her horse, Chestnut. Paisley and Ben were waiting for her.
"What are you guys doing here?" Avalon asked.
"We're here for moral support." Ben said.
"Thanks guys." Avalon said. "I better get ready."
She went to change into her riding gear and made her way to the stables.
"Hey boy." Avalon greeted Chestnut. "Let's get you ready for the tryout." She brushed her horse and fed him.
The coach blew the whistle, which meant the tryout was about to start.
"Let's go, boy." Avalon said. She lead Chestnut out to where the others were. She mounted him and waited for the whistle.
When the whistle blew, Avalon gently kicked his side and Chestnut took off. She continued to gently kick his side to make him go faster and used the reins to guide him. They went through the course and finished. Avalon climbed off Chestnut and lead him to the stables.
"You did great, boy." She said as she took off his riding gear and gave him some water. She changed out of her own riding gear and was approached by the coach.
"Avalon." The coach said. "That was quite an impressive time."
"Thank you." Avalon said. "So, did I make the team?"
"Definitely." The coach said. "You had the best time out of everyone."
Avalon smiled.
"We'll see you at the next practice." The coach said.
"Thank you, again." Avalon said before going to meet up with her brother and friend.
"That was amazing, Avalon!" They complimented.
"Thanks guys." Avalon said.
"Did you make the team?" Paisley asked.
"I did." Avalon answered.
"That's great." Ben said. "We should celebrate."
"Yes!" Paisley agreed.
"You should come over for dinner, Paisley." Ben suggested.
"I'd love to come over." Paisley said.
"I need to go let Lucy out." Avalon said. "I'll see you guys later."
A little bit later, Avalon was outside letting Lucy run around.
"Hey Ava." She heard. Avalon looked up to see Chad.
"Hey." Avalon said.
Chad joined her on the bench.
"Listen, Avalon." He started. "With you not on the cheer squad anymore, I don't think it's a good idea for us to be together anymore."
"So, you're breaking up with me just because I'm not on the cheer squad anymore?" Avalon questioned.
"I'm really sorry, Avalon." Chad said.
"Whatever Chad." Avalon said. "Just go."
Chad stood up and left.
That evening, Avalon celebrated her joining equestrian with having Paisley over all of her favorite meals and desserts being served for dinner.
Although, Avalon wasn't much in the mood to celebrate anymore.
AN: Chestnut.
