Luke's pov

It's one hour into the game and I'm pretty sure they're heading to overtime. The score has been 0-0 for FOREVER!

Calum has been playing amazing, but I can tell he's getting tired. "Cmon Cal! You got this!" I yell. "Kick them where it hurts! Aim for the top left!" I jump out of my seat and throw my fists into the air. I hear Mali laugh next to me.

"What's so funny?" I ask confused. Surely the game isn't funny to her! This could be Calum's future!
"It's just funny to think that you weren't gonna come and now you're his biggest cheerleader." She tries to muffle her laughter with her hand.

"Shut up." I mumble before returning my attention to my sweaty boyfriend running up the field. I don't know why I've never come to any of his games before. Something about him running up the field, breathing hard, with sweat dripping off of his jaw. It's really hot and I know after this game, I'm taking him to my house because my parents are gone for the night and I have been deprived of Calum for almost a week.

The ball is being passed between Kyle and Jacob. Kyle is getting ready to pass the ball again, but not before the ball is taken from under his foot by the opposing team. The opponent takes the ball straight down the field and no one reacts fast enough. Our goalie crouches, ready to protect the goal, but when the player shoots, the ball flies through the air and lands in the net.

The stadium of gold and purple goes up in cheers. I feel my heart sink as I watch Calum put his head in his hands and shake it.

I look over at the clock and see that there are only about 5 minutes left of the game. There's no way they're coming back. Michael must've been thinking the same thing because he kicks the bench out of rage and frustration.

The coach calls for a timeout and the team jogs into a huddle. The coach starts to yell at them but it's not out of frustration, more like determination. Like he's giving them a pep talk. The timeout ends and the players enter back on the field, seemingly less tired than before.

I can't see Calum's face, but I can tell by his body language, he's ready to fight for this. The whistle blows and the game begins again. The other team starts off with the ball first.

The opponents take the ball down the field swiftly passing back and forth. A player on the other team pulls his foot back to pass again but just then Calum swoops in to claim the ball. He takes off running down the field with his teammates right behind him.

I jump out of my seat and start screaming like a mad man. "GO BABY GO! TAKE EM DOWN! MAKE THIS SHOT!" I jump up and down clapping my hands while I shout.

Just before Calum gets to the goal, he passes the ball to Kyle. The whole crowd Gasps. No one was expecting that. Even the players on the field were still registering what just happened, when Kyle made the second goal of the game.

The clock runs out and the referees decide to go into overtime. Our team congratulates Kyle for his goal. A couple even go to Calum. I see Michael slap his butt, and I feel myself getting hot with jealousy but then I remember that Michael is straight as they come.

I stop to think about the previous goal. Why didn't Calum take it? It was wide open and the scouts would have been impressed. I make a note to ask him about it later.

Overtime starts and the teams are going full on head to head. The game is so interesting and intense, I question why I ever skipped out. And then I'm reminded.

An opponent runs at Calum while he has the ball and time seems to slow as I watch the opponent slam into the kiwi boy.  My boyfriend flies back, his eyes shut, body flayed. I feel my heart stop when he hits the ground.
