Hey everyone. I'm sorry I've been MIA, life is really fucking with me right now.
I'm not sure if you've heard, but I go to Berkeley High School in Berkeley,Ca (USA).
On Wednesday November 4th 2015, a student hacked the schools library website and did this (picture above) I am a biracial student and this terrified me and many of my peers.
Berkeley is known for being very diverse and excepting and this message was a slap in the face to all of the students and faculty members. In retaliation, my school led a walkout, this means more than 2,000 students and teachers (more than 2/3 of the school) walked out of the school and we marched together through the streets to the college campus in protest of this horrendous display of racism. We gained attention from across the nation. We were broadcasted live by multiple news channels and trended on Twitter.
The reason I am posting this is because I feel that wattpad is a community that has always supported me and is a safe space. I wanted to spread the word that this is the 21st century and this kind of discrimination is unacceptable and unwanted.
If you see any kind of discrimination against another human being whether it because of their skin color, their gender, sexuality, etc. please stand up and speak! Don't be a bystander.
