Flashback

Hecate claiming a half blood that had been rejected by Aphrodite had caused a lot of gossip and rumours about Amara being spread around the camp. Luke however quickly gained popularity with his charms and seemed to settle in better than his friend who instead spend time with Annabeth. That didn't mean that Luke and her weren't close anymore but it used to be just them against the world, and it took a while to accustomed to a live where more people were in it. Especially with Luke's newfound halfsiblings.

All in all, Amara started feeling slightly lonely like she had before she had met Luke finding comfort in her new hobby – magic, which she had been gifted by Hecate.

What she didn't know however was that Luke had not settled in a well as he was pretending to do. Instead, Luke was fuming which rage against the Gods for what happened to Thalia and against his father for leaving him and his mother.

It took some time but eventually the rumours about Amara stopped and Luke and Amara managed to fall into a Routine of meeting up at the Hermes table for lunch and sneaking out at night to spend time with each other.

The teenagers grew closer to each other overtime and eventually started seeing each other in a different light. Luke would notice the little details he had picked up over the years made his heart flutter and his stomach feel like it was filled with butterflies. Whenever she tucked back her hair when she was nervous, or she picked the skin on her fingers he wanted nothing but to hold her close.

It wasn't any different for Amara though she was less obvious about it. While Luke stared at her like an idiot whenever she did pretty much anything Amara would simply tease him for doing so and steal glances of him when he was training which had, as she had noticed, toned his body.

Years passed and Luke became the best sword fighter in centuries and cabin consular of his cabin. Shortly after he had turned 17 his father gave him the chance to do the final thing to prove himself. To complete a quest for him and not only that it was a quest that had been completed by Hercules before him and he was to complete it by himself.

His quest was to seek a Golden Apple at the Garden of Hesperides.

Amara had been praying for his safe return during the entirety of the quest and had been absolutely scared for Luke when he returned heavily injured, a deep cut on his cheek which had left a scar marking Luke's failed quest forever.

Amara was currently sitting next to his unconscious body holding his hand her eyes red though she wasn't crying.

"How bad is it", Luke's weak voice croaked his eyes slowly opening as he sat himself up groaning in pain.

She let out a relieved breath "It might leave a scar, but you're ok that's all that matters".

Luke looked down a pained expression on his face "I failed".

Amara softly placed a hand on his uninjured cheek making him look at her "It was a suicide mission they shouldn't have given you this quest alone".

Luke looked at her still not fully convinced. "I hate him", he told her.

"I know", she said softly pulling him into a hug careful not to hurt him. The taller boy clutched her tightly his arms around her waist.
