Flashback

A young girl was running down the hallway of a scetchy apartment complex, the drunk shouting of her father ringing through the building. Her feet were bleeding from the shards of glass that littered the floor of their apartment from all the bottles that had been thrown at her. Tears were streaming down her face, causing strands of her dark hair to stick to her cheeks. She ran down the stairs, coming to a holt at the bottom where she sat down rubbing her feet.

A tall man with a big belly and a biker jacket passed the girl looking at her a hint of pity in his eyes. "Tell your father to shut the fuck up little one", he told her his voice deep and intimidating. Terrified the girl nodded staring at the floor. She curled herself into a ball sitting on the steps waiting until she was sure her father was passed out.

The young girl looked up noticing a boy about her age standing in the corner. He had dark hair and was quiet a bit taller than her. Tilting her head intruiged by the new-comer she stared back at him.

"You're the girl from the loud apartment aren't you", the boy finally questioned.

Embarassed the girl seemed to try to pretend like she didn't know what he was talking about.

"Your dad always wakes up my mom", the boy continued his tone becoming slightly judgemental.

"Who sleeps in the middle of the day?", the girl snapped back at the boy.

"My mom does", the boy replied looking down at his feet upset, "She's sick", he added quietly.

The girl froze brushing the sticky strands of her hair out of her face feeling guilt. "Sorry" she muttered now also looking at the floor.

The boy didn't seem to be upset about her and sat down next to her. After a minute of awkward silence between the kids he offered her his hand, "I'm Luke", he introduced himself a soft blush on his face.

The girl stared at his hand not knowing what to do which made the boy, Luke shrink back pulling his hand back.

"Amara", the girl replied simply.

Luke's eyes lit up at that and smiled, "It's nice to meet you Amara", he told her.

Amara looked at him slightly irritated that he was being nice to her, but she couldn't help to feel a warmness spread in her chest. She had just made a friend.

End of Flashback

Amara Meadows had settled into her room waiting for it to become dark enough for Luke to sneak in. Finally she heard a knock on the door "Come in".

Luke came in wearing PJs his hair still wet. Carefull not to step on her ritual circle Luke plopped himself on her bed pulling her into his arm. "I missed you," he told her, smelling her hair "God I love your shampoo."

Amara laughed. "You saw me two hours ago.

"Two hours too many," Luke complained, "Is that my shirt you're wearing?" Amara blushed, nodding. "That's my favourite shirt," he complained.

Amara gave him a cheeky grin. "Too bad it's my favourite too."

The couple settled down in her bed, cuddling the moonlight coming through her window. Hecate's cabin was cosy, and since Amara was alone in it, she was able to have a lot of space for her rituals.

Technically Hecate didn't have a cabin non of the minor gods did. Mostly these kids stayed unclaimed or were thrown into Luke's cabin but since she had sworn herself to the godess Amara was put into a little wood cabin a little further away from the others that used to be used for weaoons. It wasn't as glamorous as the other cabins but it was her own space unlike those other children. Hecate had had insisted I was put here and it took months for Chiron and the Olympians to agree.
