Billy's eyes lock onto me as he weaves through the partiers around the pool, dodging an inflated beach ball and almost tripping over a lawn chair haphazardly strewn on its side. He takes one leap over it and saunters the rest of the way up to the potted palm tree and leans against it, crossing his arms, his chest swells up.

"Hello there, Babesy," says Billy with a big smile. He always calls me Babesy. It's cute...I guess.

"Hi," I reply. I can't help but look at Annabelle who is somehow not giving both of us much attention. She has her eyes on the unicorn boy. "Thanks for inviting me to your pool party."

"No biggie. Do I get a Thank You kiss, too?"

I take a deep breath and quickly stand up. "Of course." I throw my arms around his neck and he presses his hips into me. Before I can give him a light kiss on the lips he's hotly pressing his mouth hard into mine for a long kiss which tastes a little like my beer, and somehow I'm not as enjoying it as much as I thought I would. I pull back and feel his hands run down my backside and squeeze my ass through my shorts.

"Damn. When did you get an ass like this?" he asks as he squeezes my ass again.

I push him away and try to laugh it off but inside I want to punch him hard into his big chest and throw him into the pool. It's not every day I get man-handled. I don't know what I was expecting. Maybe a gentleman? Even Donny didn't just grab me like that when we were dating. I hate to say it but he's got more respect...sort of.

I feel a light touch on my shoulder and snatch a look behind me. It's just Annabelle looking at me with caution in her eyes. She always knows when I'm tense.

"Let's get another drink!" she says cheerily, and pulls me away while Billy looks at us confused. Somehow he can't believe a girl is leaving him in the dust and somehow I can't believe I ever thought he was a decent guy.

Annabelle whispers to me, "What do you think you're doing?"

"I—I don't know." I reply as I lean on the tiki bar near the pool. "He's always invited us every year, and in Ms. Higgins' History class he's always winking at me."

"Who doesn't he wink at?" Annabelle says and nods toward Billy as he strolls back to a lounger, winking at almost every girl with a two-piece bikini.

"Uggh." I say with a shake of my head. "How come I didn't see it before?"

"Because you didn't want to see it. He's got looks, a hot body, and word has it he's packing like a horse."

"A horse?" I say, astonished. "I don't think my 'gina could survive something like that."

"My girl could. I just didn't go for him because I know how much you like him."

"Liked." I correct.

"Yikes. Have you seriously just dumped your summer crush like that?"

I look at him once more as he leans against a lounge chair, flexing his left pec at the delight of two brunettes. "I think it is like that." I can't help but feel like my hopes are dashed. "I need another drink." The bartender slides a red cup into my hand. I down it quickly and slam it back down. "How the hell does Billy get away with serving underage kids alcohol."

"You're underage?" The bartender says, his eyes look at us astonished.

I shake my head. My mouth full of something alcoholic and sweet.

"Just fuckin' with ya. So am I. Billy pays a ton for me to take care of his fans."

I swallow it down. "His fans?"

"That's what he calls everybody here."

"Did you—" I turn around to see Annabelle gone and find her shaking her ass to the music in a small crowd of dancers near the pool. I roll my eyes at her and shake my head when she waves me to join her. At least she's having a good time. It doesn't take long before drink after drink I join her and then, dance after dance, the sun begins to fall.
