Hey... so it's been a while... Life has gotten a bit in the way obviously but here's a chapter I forgot I wrote.

Enjoy, I suppose <3

You lay awake as your alarm sounded. As you already knew and most people could imagine, sleeping with a bruised and battered body proved to be a gruelling exercise. Always waking up more and more achy as time went on through the restless sleep. With a prolonged groan, you finally lifted your arm to the phone and shut of the noise that felt like gravel against your ears. Looking at the screen you found the wonderful time of 5:30am on the lock screen and suppressed a groan at the day ahead.

You wanted nothing more than to lay in bed all day but knew that it wasn't possible. Reluctantly you dragged your aching body off the comforting and soft mattress that was just begging for you to lay back down.

Standing still for a minute as the world tilted slightly, you rubbed your eyes as you released a breath before you started walking to the closet and changing into your uniform.

You make a mental note to chuck the other one into the washing machine before school.

Looking in the mirror you were met with dark circles under your eyes, just sighing at the sight you decided to not even bother trying to hide them with makeup. Instead you just put some eyeliner and mascara on.

"Right, now to go wake up the child." You half-heartedly muttered as you opened the door and left the room. You hadn't even taken two steps when a voice cut you off.

"And where the hell were you last night?" A vile voice snapped through the silence of the morning and you bit back a groan as you turned to the woman on the other side of the hall. You didn't want to do this, not today. You prayed to any god that would listen to just let you have this one day be quiet.

"The dishes weren't done and the lounge room was a mess. Not to mention the call I received from the school yesterday afternoon saying you were half a day late, care to explain that one?" The horrid thing continued.

"Good morning, Mother. Did you sleep well?" You sent a somewhat patronising look at the taller woman.

"Don't deflect the question, idiot." She stepped closer, you stood your ground.

"I'm not, there's nothing to say about it. A friend just took a different route yesterday and got us lost, nothing more nothing less." You failed to keep the snarky tone out of your voice and the woman took notice to it.

"How dare you speak to me in that tone! I-" The beginning of the building rant/scolding came to an abrupt holt by the ringing of the woman's phone and she answered.

'Thank goodness. I rather not have Michi wake up to a screaming match... again.' You let out a silent breath in that moment.

The older woman huffed. "I don't know why I even waste my time on something as worthless as you." She mumbled as she turned and walked down the stairs. You listened to her grab her bag and leave the apartment with a slam of the door.

Sighing as you continued your way to the youngest's room, hoping she wasn't awake yet. Opening the door you were met with a still asleep Michizu. Slipping in quietly you knelt next to the bed and ran your fingers softly through the sleeping child's hair, making her stir a bit.

"C'mon Michi. It's time to wake up, sweetheart." You were kind with your words, coaxing her out of slumber.

Sitting up the child rubbed her eyes, "'Morning..." She yawned, "Mama." After a few seconds she slipped out of bed to give you a hug.
