Jurassic park: The New Hire

Chapter 6: a tense lunch

Lyla came in just in time to hear John rambling on about what rides he planned to have and she heard his famous saying "we spared no expense"

Then to Lyla's utter disgust Gennaro spoke up

"And we can charge anything we want. Two thousand a day, ten thousand a day people will pay it and then there's the merchandise as well"

"Donald this park was not built to cater to the rich, everyone in the world has got a right to see these animals"
John retorted with annoyance

"Sure they will, we could do a coupon day or something"

Lyla was now enraged and joined the conversation

"You know what Gennaro just because a greedy and rich piece of crap like you thinks that only the rich can come to this park, you're absolutely wrong. What about the millions of kids like myself who have been obsessed with dinosaurs their entire lives? Some of these kids families are probably living poorly, the parents or guardians trying to feed their kids and make sure they have a dang roof over their head, you're really going to deny them that? Just let them imagine what a T. rex looks like or how a triceratops acts, all they'll see is just some bones when they could see the real thing, that's like if Disneyland was expensive and now the kids who grew up with some of those movies can't see their favourite characters."

"You're an intern, a worker, you have no say in these kind of things. Oh and just to make you aware, those Disney characters are fake there are people inside those suits, these dinosaurs are real and the money we could make from them would be astronomical." Gennaro replied

Lyla's hand started to move towards the stake knife that was by her plate but John stopped her and said "perhaps you should go calm down and wait for my grandkids to come"

Lyla simply nodded and left the room and walked outside, she sat on the little water streams that were on the side of the building and started sobbing.

She absolutely hated Gennaro for what he said and what he did, if her dad hadn't gone down the path that he did perhaps she would be living a better life and even if this opportunity came up she would absolutely take it regardless.

Callie came out of her purse and climbed up to Lyla's face and nuzzled her for comfort. She at least had someone or something that cared.

Thirty minutes later, a gas powered jeep pulled up with who Lyla knew was Hammonds grandkids and so she went up to the jeep to greet them.

She introduced herself to them one was about 12 so two years younger than her and the other was 9. The girl introduced herself as Lex Murphy and she had to tell Lyla her brother's name who looked at Lyla like she was some sort of goddess as Tim, Tim snapped out of it after Lex hit him with her cap and he explained that he liked dinosaurs and so Lyla took that opportunity to have them meet Callie.

Tim was absolutely thrilled to see a real life compy at that and pet Callie and Lex was hesitant but Lyla gave her a piece of meat to feed Callie with and Callie snatched it up which made Lex jump back but seemed to be ok with her.

The three made their way back into the visitor's centre to find the adults walking out from their meeting.
