Chapter 19: a day at the park

(Morning time)

Lyla was sitting at her desk when a knock was heard on her office door

"Come in" Lyla said confused that she wasn't scheduled to meet with anyone at the moment

Claire walked in looking stressed and Lyla could tell "oh hey Claire what's up?"

"I need a huge favour to ask you"  Claire replied

"And that is?"

"So my nephews are coming to the park for a couple days to stay and spend time with me since my sister essentially forced me to, anyways I have  a few people coming in for a tour and that's happening when they arrive.."

"Ok are you asking me to greet your nephews or do the tour for you?" Lyla asked

"I was hoping you could take over for that tour.." said Claire

"Sure but the catch is I can only do that and I have to go check on the raptor paddock around 12 so hopefully you won't be too long" Lyla replied

"Sure thing, just to let you know you'll be meeting with Hal osterly, Jim drucker  and Erica brand." Claire told Lyla

"Ugh yeah I know who they are" Lyla deadpanned

Hugging her Claire said, "Thank you so so much Lyla I owe you one"

Lyla looked at the sheet that Claire had given her with what she was supposed to say and Lyla was glad that her ability to memorize served her well.

Lyla walked off the elevator to see the three faces that she was supposed to meet and welcomed them to the park, Lyla then talked about dinosaurs and their impact on the world the last 22 years since Hammond brought them back and how people look at them like they're a normal animal at the zoo. She then explained that now people wanted dinosaurs to be bigger and louder with more teeth which she expressed her opinion on why she thought it wasn't a very good idea

Being bored, osterly asked "we wanna be thrilled what do you have to show us?"

Memorizing the sheet Claire gave her Lyla then introduced them to the indominus Rex, then drucker asked "wait how did you get two different Dino's to ya know do the thing?"

Lyla was now at a loss for words until her moms friend and old roommate Henry Wu came and saved her, "I can take it from here Lyla. now the indominus wasn't bred she was designed, she will be fifty feet long when fully grown.. bigger than the T. rex in fact

Lyla then added in because of her knowledge of working the past 10 years since the opening "every time we've unveiled a new Dino the crowd has gone bonkers for it and attendance spiked.

"So when will she be ready" osterly asked

"She already is said Wu"

Lyla drove up to the raptor paddock and got out to see that Owen was already working with them.

She watched him hold the 4 girls back against a pig that was released and decided to go up on the walkway to watch him. The raptors listened intently but Charlie was acting up and getting way too close and so Lyla got in and unleashed Callie who was getting up there but still had it in her for a compy. "Hey, Charlie don't you dare touch him!" She motioned for Callie to start walking slowly toward Charlie, when Lyla and Owen first started training the 4 raptors they noticed despite Callie's size the raptors didn't like her and backed away when Callie started going towards them.

Eventually Lyla had the girls in line and Owen nodded in approval and then sent them off.

Barry came and congratulated Lyla and Owen for doing what they did and then in walked Hoskins.

"Owen I was starting to think I hired the wrong guy but you got them eating out of your hands"

Owen then told Hoskins that he came on a good day and that it usually wasn't like that

After some back and forth Lyla got fed up "ok Hoskins what pointless bullcrap do you need this time?"

"You're always this feisty around me what's your deal?" Hoskins chuckled

"My deal is whenever you show your ugly face here you always come up with some outlandish request." Lyla said

"Which is exactly what I'm doing, I've come to talk to you about a field test"

Rolling her eyes Lyla stated "like hell that's happening with these guys"

"Don't forget I own you" Hoskins said

Owen now getting annoyed said "technically she's over you since she's still president over ingen"

"True but one word to Masrani and he could instantly take that all away from you"

Lyla never had felt this angry since she interacted with Dennis Nedry and so she was about to walk up and deck Hoskins right in the face but Owen stopped her saying "not right now, you'll get your chance eventually"

Lyla went to the vehicle to cool off and after watching Owen and Hoskins argue she saw that a new worker had gotten in trouble and suddenly she was 14 again. She rushed in to the paddock and the raptors were thinking this new worker was food.

"Hey blue stand down, delta don't even think about it I see you. Ok Charlie stay right there."

She looked at Barry and said "close the gate"

"Wait are you crazy?!" Barry asked

"Just close the freaking gate Barry" Lyla yelled

She pulled a move Owen taught her and rolled under the gate at the last second and then turned to the worker

"You're the new guy right?"

"Yeah"

"Ever wonder why there was a job opening?"
Don't you ever turn your back on that cage you hear me?"

"Yes ma'am the worker replied"

Lyla patted him on the back and then faced Owen

"Wow you had some real nerve doing that" Owen said

"Look they would have listened to me and I may have made it out of there but for you, yeah no chance you could have done that"

"Oh please I could have" Owen replied

Lyla just smiled and said "see ya later partner"

Before she left Owen shouted "given how we both had a crazy day so far, want to come by my place later for a beer or two?"

Lyla replied with a yes and then drove off.

AN: ok I want make one thing VERY CLEAR, I will not be having Lyla and Owen in a relationship, they're just very good friends so I will be shooting down any requests for that type of thing. But hope you're enjoying the chapters and next chapter will come out same time next week.
