Chapter 20: The Indominus

After Lyla did a few things she drove out to where Owen was staying, taking him up on his offer for some drinks after the morning she had.

She stepped out of the vehicle and instantly smelt some BBQ, "wow he really has time to make me lunch and all I wanted was a drink" she thought to herself   

"well well you came just in time for the hot dogs to come off the grill" Owen exclaimed 

"And I agreed to a drink" Lyla said rolling her eyes

Owen chuckled and retorted "hey if the girls got to eat that pig, we should get to as well"   

Lyla then took a couple hot dogs and put some toppings on it and cracked open a beer, Owen took a seat beside her and Owen got to talking "it feels like with these raptors its like dealing with 4 teenage girls sometimes." 

"like you would know anything about raising teenagers." Lyla said 

"you're right I don't but at least the raptors don't act like a toddler unlike someone we know." Owen replied 

"Man I hate Hoskins so so much." Lyla said 

"so do I, but speaking of kids, have you ever wanted any?" Owen asked

"well I don't know, I first gotta find myself a husband, then I'll consider kids." Lyla replied 

"Fair enough." said Owen 

As the two were talking Owen then saw another vehicle pull up and mumbled "what could they want now"

Claire and another guy had stepped out and Lyla thought she recognized him but couldn't tell until he spoke "hey Lyla its been quite a few years" 

"no hecking way! Tim Murphy? My goodness you've grown" Lyla exclaimed 

"you've grown more beautiful than I remember." Tim replied

Lyla started blushing a little but quickly composed herself and started asking a million things "so how are you, how's Lex, wait why are you here?"

Tim laughed "well to answer your questions, I'm doing pretty well and Lex is good too, she actually got a job with your dad as tech support. Also the reason I'm here is for the same reason Claire is talking to your friend over there. 

Lyla looked over and saw Claire walking back to the car with a look of annoyance and oewn walked over to Lyla and Tim "ugh Owen what did you do this time?" asked Lyla 

"just caught up with an old friend that's all, so you ready?' 

"ready for what?..." Lyla asked her expression changing. 

"ready to go see the new dinosaur" Tim replied

the 4 got out of their vehicles and Owen looked up at the walls looking a little uneasy, Lyla kind of knew what was going on with the new dino but she didn't know what exactly it was, and Tim's love for dinosaurs never left but Lyla could tell he was getting ptsd from Jurassic park and the t rex.

Claire started talking about how they were pre booking and that the park needed a new attraction every few years to get public interest which Lyla disagreed on but masrani was her boss and she wouldn't go against him like that.

Owen was questioning about things but Tim and Lyla listened intently 

"so what's this thing made of? 

"the base genome is a t rex but the rest is classified"

"Lyla do you know?" Owen asked 

Lyla shook her head. 

Owen still was asking questions until Claire brought up an answer regarding the raptors being born in captivity  

"Claire what you don't seem to understand is that these raptors were raised with each other and learnt social skills, they trust Owen because he imprinted on them, as for me they tend to respond to a female more and I'm seen as the boss. the only relationship this animal has is with that crane and she knows it means food" Lyla added   

before arguments could happen Tim shouted "hey guys, come look at this!"

"were those claw marks always there?" Owen asked 

"do you think it..?" Lyla started to ask 

the realization hit Claires face and she said "oh gosh"

Claire ran off to have the control room track it but since Lyla was second in command she could manually do it but it took a while. Tim had stayed back with Lyla and Owen went to investigate.

it wasn't until Lyla just pulled the location up that Tim said "hey Lyla isn't that the dinosaur right there?

Lyla was horrified and tried to get a hold of Owen but she couldn't and so she called Claire

"Claire the indominus is in there with them, we need to get em out!"

"Yeah control room just told me we're working on it" 

  Lyla, almost ran out to save them but Tim stopped her saying "you almost died saving me we should stay in here for safety" 

Lyla nodded and she could only hope that Owen and the worker made it out.
