Bagi was laying across her wife's body when Skeppy's call came in. "Oi, it's him finally." She sat up and answered. "Hello!"

"Hi!" Skeppy was in his bedroom alone while Bad fed Hani. "How's life?"

"Oh so good, thank you for asking." Her smile was apparent in her tone. "How's your life?"

"Oh...good." Skeppy hesitated. "So, I wanted to talk to you about Disfruta."

"Y-yeah..." Bagi eyed her wife. "Excuse me my love, I'm going to go get a glass of water." Bagi excused herself to the kitchen. It was an excuse to talk privately, where her wife wouldn't hear. "So what're we talking about about?"

"Well..." Skeppy had mentally prepared what he wanted to say, at least how he wanted to start the conversation. "Have you noticed anything weird?"

"Weird, in what way exactly?" Bagi got a cup and poured a glass of water. That way she technically didn't lie to her lover.

"I noticed some weird stuff, that's why I quit..." He didn't give Bagi too much information, he wanted to see if she would offer some of her own.

"Oh, yes..." Bagi cleared her throat. "There's been some things I guess...What have you noticed?"

"There was an incident where Disfruta posted a photo of my house in one of their ads...someone tried to kidnap our daughter from daycare...some other stuff happened between me and Cucurucho that I won't disclose. I'm trying to figure out who tried to kidnap my daughter, and I think it's linked to Disfruta. So...I really need you to tell me if you know of anything sketchy happening in the company."

Bagi didn't respond for a long time.

"Hello? Bagi?"

"S-sorry I'm just shocked." Bagi took a deep breath. "Has Cucurucho or someone been giving you a hard time since you quit?"

"Actually no, I emailed Cucurucho and he sent me some sort of automated 'we're sad to see you go' type thing." Skeppy could feel the tension through the phone. Bagi knew something. "I know for a fact you know things...I never thought about it before but you and everyone are so stiff at work. Like you're all constantly afraid."

"Skeppy..." Bagi sighed. "Meet me somewhere..."

Skeppy stiffened. "Where?"

"It has to be private..."

Skeppy chewed on his lip. "Okay...There's a sketchy little bar/hotel by my house. We could buy a room for an hour and it wouldn't be looked at as weird."

"Oh and everyone will think I'm uh... prostitute? Good idea." Bagi said sarcastically.

"Alright, good point...any ideas?"

"Hmm...the beach."

"Okay?"

"At sunset. When everyone goes home."

"Alright, fine. But it's like an hour drive for me..."

"Can you come tonight?"

Skeppy thought about it. "I'll have to talk to my husband, I'll call you back."

🌅🌅🌅

"How're you doing, Bad?" Puffy asked over the speaker-phone.

"Not the best, not the worst." He said. He was actually the worst. Skeppy was gone an hour away to meet a woman for answers. Bad had to stay home with Hani, where it was technically safer. He told Puffy none of this. Sure Puffy called to check up on him sometimes, but he still didn't feel close enough to tell her everything. Bad didn't want to stress her out. Not when she was becoming a familiar stranger.

"That's good, how's Hani?"

"She's good, she started saying the word 'nugget' but she says it like 'nogate'."

"Aww!" Puffy smiled with her voice. "I need to come visit you guys sometime, really. I'm just so busy."

"I know, it's fine." Bad missed her. He didn't have friends anymore. Not physically.

"What's Skeppy up to tonight?"

"Oh, he went out for a drive."

"You didn't go?"

"No, I'm tired."

"Oh, well...I'll let you go to bed. I know I'm busy but if you ever need someone, I'm here."

"Thank you, Puffy..."

Skeppy parked his car and made his way to the washrooms. Bagi was waiting by them for his arrival.

"Hey." Skeppy greeted her with an awkward wave.

"Hello, Skeppy." Bagi tilted her hat. "Are you alone?"

"Yes, are you?"

Bagi nodded. "Come, let's go for a walk."

Skeppy followed Bagi along the boardwalk. There were a few people around as the sun set, but not many. It was starting to get cold. "This is a beautiful place, I need to come here more often."

Bagi nodded. "Yes, yes you should come here more often." Bagi smiled sadly. "There's a little place up through here with picnic tables. Let's go sit."

"How's your wife?" Skeppy asked causally as they stepped off the boardwalk and headed up a trail through the woods.

"Oh, Tina is good." Bagi had forgotten Skeppy knew. She felt awkward and so, so terrible. "How's your partner?"

"He's worried because I'm out alone...but I need to figure things out so I can keep my daughter safe. If you know anything, you'll tell me, right?"

"I will tell you..." Bagi led Skeppy up through the woods to a sheltered area with picnic tables.

"I love you, call me back." Bad left a voicemail and tossed his phone down on the bed. Skeppy was only twenty minutes past his expected return. But Bad still worried.

Hani was asleep in the bed next to Bad. He felt better having her close. He liked listening to her breathe. He liked knowing she was okay.

"I shouldn't of let him go..." Bad said as if Hani could hear and respond. "Why did I let him go?" Bad sighed and looked at his phone. If Skeppy didn't call back in ten minutes, he was calling the police.

Bad called the police five minutes later in a panic. He could barely get the words out through his tears. Paranoia caught up to him.

"Take a deep breath, sir. What's going on?" They recognized his number. "Is there someone at your house? Can you confirm your location?"

Bad whined. "My husband went out to meetup with someone and he's late coming home. I'm scared."
