"What the hell is goin' on?" I ask as I step out of the room and see everyone walking towards the main room.
"Energy is being prioritized," Jenner said and reached behind me to grab the bottle of scotch that Daryl had grabbed before popping his head out with me.
"Air isn't a priority? And lights?" Dale asked, following Jenner when he didn't slow down, I follow them, Lori, Carl, Carol, and Sofia behind me as Jenner takes a swig from the bottle.
"It's not up to me. Zone five is shutting itself down," He said, and raised the bottle up to his mouth again.
"Hey! Hey, what the hell does that mean?" Daryl demands, jogging to catch up with me. Jenner doesn't answer him. Daryl reaches for Jenner's shoulder but doesn't actually touch him, "Hey, man, I'm talking to you. What do you mean it's shutting itself down? How can a building do anything?" Daryl asks.
"Rick?" Lori asks as she leans over the rail of the stairs, Rick, T-dog, Glenn, and Shane, running into our sights. I peak over just as Rick holds out his hand, a silent gesture to wait. Neither of us listen, following Jenner down the stairs, and towards the main room. Something isn't right here...
"Jenner, what the hell is happening?" I ask seriously, stepping into place next to him as Rick follows me. He looked at me as he started to talk.
"The system is dropping all the nonessential uses of power. It's designed to keep the computers running to the last possible second. That started as we approach the half-hour mark. Right on schedule," he finishes, pointing at the huge timer to the right of the big screen, before taking another drink from the bottle that was still in his hands. He finally stalled at the bottom of the steps up to the platform of computers, and handed Daryl the bottle of scotch, who snatched it from him. Everyone was silent, waiting for Jenner to continue.
"It was the French," Jenner said, looking at Andrea before he climbed the few steps onto the platform.
"What?" Andrea asked. Jenner paused and turned around to face her.
"They were the last ones to hold out as far as I know. While our people were bolting out the doors and committing suicide in the hallways, they strayed in the labs 'till the end. They thought they were close to a solution." He turned back around to continue the steps.
"What happened?" Jacqui asked. I held my breath, waiting for the answer.
"The same thing that happening here. No power grid. Ran out of juice. The world runs on fossil fuel. I mean, how stupid is that?" Jenner asked no one in particular.
"Lemme tell you—" Shane started as he followed Jenner threateningly, Rick reaching for his shoulder, so he doesn't do anything stupid.
"To hell with it, Shane. I don't even care," Rick told him, then turned to everyone else. "Lori, Abs, grab our things. Everybody, get your stuff. We're getting out of here. Now!" Rick yells, and everyone turns to get their stuff, but an alarm starts to go off.
"What's that?" Shane and Carl both say.
"30 minutes to decontamination." Vi says.
"Doc, What's goin' on here?" Daryl asks, his voice wavering slightly. Jenner ignores him, and punches something into a keypad.
"Everybody, y'all heard Rick," Shane says, and we start rushing towards the doors. I pause and point behind Rick, where a security door started closing.
"Rick!" I yell as I start running behind him, but I wasn't fast enough to get there in time, and the door fully closes.
"No! Fuck!" I yell and start pounding the doors, trying to get them to open again.
