(CODY POV)
"Wow, new guy! You're good at this!" The ginger girl said, patting me on the back as I smiled. My fourth strike tonight.
I lied. I can't get a single strike, that's no where near what happened. In fact, the complete opposite. "Wow, new kid, you suck!" She laughed, I frowned, walking over to Noah.
"Izzy, don't be a dick!" Noah groaned, putting his hand on my shoulder. I smiled at him, a smile slowly rising onto his lips. He has a pretty smile.
I don't know why we decided to go bowling, cause Noah definitely wasn't good at it either. I didn't expect a girl like Izzy to be friends with Noah. They're total opposites, and not just because they're opposite genders.
Izzy is crazy and chaotic and Noah is calm and collected. They both don't hold back on insults, though. Not that Noah's taken the time to insult me, but he seems to be quite the sarcastic guy.
I like his shitty-dickhead sarcasm. I don't know why but it's funny. It's nothing like me.
I guess I do tend to be attracted to people of that type. Not in a way that I'm attracted to Noah, but like, you know what I mean.
Noah walked away, as it was his turn, and somehow got a strike on his first ball."Woohoo! Noah! Didn't expect you to get a strike tonight." Trent laughed, hitting Noah on the back; to which Noah rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, and I didn't expect you to be willing to embarrass yourself in front of Gwen." Noah laughed. Trent glared at him, telling him to shut up with his eyes."What about her?" I questioned, looking around. It's not like she came with us.
"She works here." Trent sighed, tossing his ball. "Oh.. Really?" He nodded.
"She tried getting a job at the coffee shop but Trent begged our manager not to hire her." Noah laughed."I didn't want to embarrass myself." Trent glared at Noah once again, Noah just laughing. Trent tossed his last ball, strike!
"Wow, what are you guys doing here?" A voice sounded from behind me."Oh, Hey Gwen." Noah waved at her. Trent waved nervously. "You should've told me you were coming." Noah shrugged, "Yeah, maybe."
"Mind if I join you guys? I'm about to go on break and I don't have anything better to do." I nodded hastily, Trent doing the same.
Gwen's real pretty. And real hot. I can see why Trent would like her...
Bowling was fun, but I had to leave a bit early cause I told my dad i'd be home by four. "I'm home!" I hollered, my dad yelling something inaudible back at me.
"What?!""Cody, get over here, now!" He yelled back, I couldn't tell if he was upset or not. Either he wanted to say hi to me or something or he was upset. He was probably upset.
"Why were you out so late?? Your aunt's going to be here in thirty minutes and your room is a disaster!" I looked at him confused as he rambled about my messy room, blah blah blah.
"Aunt Charlie is coming over?!" I smiled, he nodded. "I told you, Cody. Charlotte. You need to be more formal."
"Sorry. I'll go clean, okay?" He nodded, shooing me away. "Don't be loud, I have to get some work done." I nodded, going to my room.I don't know why he's so freaked about my room. It's not like she'll care.
I think he's trying to make it seem like we're still okay after mom.
Which we are. It's not like I cry every night thinking about her funeral.
I'm okay. After a few minutes or something, I wasn't keeping track, the doorbell finally rang. I ran out of my room like a kid, answering the door.
"Cody! Oh I missed you." She hugged me, pulling away and looking around. "Kind of dirty in here.. where is your father? I need to talk to him." I nodded, yelling for my dad."Cody, I told you, I'm working!" He yelled back, upset.
"Aunt Charlie is here!" He didn't respond, but I could hear him hurriedly coming downstairs. He had heavy feet."Logan." She glared at him, brushing off her shirt. They never got along. "Charlotte." He smiled, putting out a hand for her to shake. "We aren't meeting for the first time, Logan. Must you act so formal? We need to talk." Dad nodded, putting his hand on her back and guiding her to the kitchen.
Umm, that was odd. I doubt they'd like if I followed them. But I wonder what they're talking about. Maybe I can listen in, won't hurt.
"Logan, you know she would've wanted this." My aunt whisper-yelled. "And how do you know that? Cody is perfectly fine with me, I don't understand why you think she'd want this."
"You're not a good influence on him. He's a good kid, you're.. too busy to take care of him." She crossed her arms. "He's 16, he can take care of himself Charlotte. He'll be seventeen in just a few months."
"I'm surprised you know that." She glared at him. "God, Charlie. Yes, we forgot his birthday, ONCE, will you ever let me live without mentioning it?" She scoffed. "I have a right. You shouldn't have forgotten it in the first place! Look. How about Cody will stay at my house for the weekend and see how he likes it, okay?" My dad sighed, reluctantly nodding.
"Fine."
I step away from the kitchen entrance as Aunt Charlie turns to leave. She wants to take me? Not take me— but, she wants me to live with her? And why am I not apart of this? I don't want to move, I like it here with dad.
I run up to my room, carefully shutting the door and sighing, pulling out my phone and calling Noah.
