This was the worst possible thing that could've happen to Ran.

Sure, the money was good, job was quite simple but he wanted the adrenaline that came with his former position.

He loved the way people used to squirm and beg for mercy at his feet, he loved hunting them down with his brother, that's what he signed up for.. not following some rich chick around.

He was parked in front of the mansion for the past hour, he knew he had to get out the car eventually but he was stalling as much as he could.

He let his head fall on the wheel questioning his life choices in silence.

He was curious who you were. Why did no one in Bonten knew about your existence? Was it for your safety? Were you ugly? Was he too ashamed to show you to the public?

But if that were the case why the hell would he marry you in the first place? Curiosity got the best of him so after a long overly dramatic sigh he finally pushed the card door open and made his way to the front door.

Does he have to knock? He wondered. Mikey gave him a key but.. he knew you had a gun. You don t know him, what if you shoot him?

Yeah.. he should definitely knock.

He didn't know what to expect, he couldn't imagine how would you look like.. sound like, think like. You married Mikey so definitely you got a few loose screws but who.. were you?

When you opened the door he needed a few seconds to process what he was seeing. He gulped and struggled a little to hold a grin back while introducing himself, all while you stayed there in the doorframe with a bored expression plastered on your face.

One look and Ran knew all his questions from above were no longer important. He didn't care, he just wanted to know one thing.

He wanted to know how you FEEL like.

You, on the other hand seemed unimpressed by his spotless appearance. The only thing you noticed was his arrogance. It pissed you off, made you want to shut the door right in his smug face. He was right there talking.. about something, you had no idea what because frankly you didn't care to pay attention.

Y/n: "okay, stop talking and listen to me. I don't need a bodyguard let alone want one.. but my husband insisted so here's how it's gonna be. You don't talk to me unless I come talk to you, you don't follow me around the house like a dog and if we go out you keep your distance, I don't need a second shadow. Got that?"

"Oh she's sassy", he thought. He let you finish your little speech, taking in still your appearance. You had that "effortlessly pretty" thing going for you. All that, paired with the feisty attitude were more than enough to send him over the edge. When you finally stopped yapping he smiled and simply said:

Ran: "No"

You blinked a few times registering what just just happened.

Y/n: "I beg your pardon?"

Ran: "Miss-... ?"

He paused letting you complete the sentence. He wanted to know your first name, he wanted to see how easily it would roll off his tongue

Y/n: "Sano."

Now that was disappointing.

Ran bit his tongue realizing he might actually had to work hard for this one.

That would be a first..

He always had it easy. He was hot, and he knew he was hot which only made him hotter. And to top that, he was rich so any woman he wanted to have, be her single, in a relationship, married, divorced, not into man whatsoever, each and every one of them inevitably found herself in his bed.

And he was confident you'd follow soon, he just had to be patient, right?

Ran: "Miss Sano, I'm sorry to inform you so bluntly but I do not work for you. I work for your husband.."

He took a step forward forcing you to take a step back.

Ran:" I only play by his rules"

There was something in the way he said that.. you could've sworn that you smelled dishonesty all over his words but you brushed it off thinking he is just trying to be intimidating to fool you into submission. After all.. it would make his job easier.

But you weren't going to leave things his way, your husband's way or anyone's way.

It's your way or no way and if you have to be extreme.. so be it.

You took your gun out and pointed it at him in an attempt to scare him off. Ran just chuckled at the sight.

A gun? You thought a gun would scare him? .. The only thing you did was turn him on.

Ran: "Miss Sano, put that down, you are going to hurt yourself."

He struggled not to laugh in your face but failed miserably which pissed you off even more.

Y/n: "Just go away, I don't want you here."

Ran: "Well guess what, I don't want to be here either but we both have to suck it up and get used to it so be a darling, put the gun away, and listen to me. I don't intend to stand in your way. Unless you're in danger you won't even notice I'm around, I promise."

Ran was a smooth talker, that was for sure. He knew exactly what he needed to say.. what you wanted to hear. He had to play his cards right and he had a clear plan in his head already. He needed you to let your guard down, after that he was sure he could have you.. and he needed to have you.

You weren't sure what to do next. You could shoot him but Mikey would just bring someone else in his place.. at least this one was nice to the eye. You lowered your gun and started walking towards your room but before closing the door you said one more thing.

Y/n: " I'll hold you to that promise"

Ran smiled lazily and tilted his head a bit to the side.

Ran: I am a man of my word, miss.. ?

Your  mouth started to move on it's own accord and without even thinking you found yourself saying..

".. Y/n"

You glanced at him one more time before closing the door.

Ran was pleased.

"Y/n"..

he repeated your name a few more times in his mind. It suited you.

He glanced around the house, admiring the surroundings, and while seeing a nice looking bottle of scotch he decided to pour himself a glass.

It tasted old and expensive so Ran loved it.. being here wasn't that bad, he could get used to this, he figured.

He was in his boss's house, drinking his liquor.. craving his wife.

"Lucky bastard" he thought to himself while downing the whole glass.
