Synopsis of Previous Chapter: If you skipped the previous chapters, here's what happened (the clean version).
You and Alastor chatted a little about the song you sang in Cannibal Town. You explained that the lyrics were things you thought might have happened when he first arrived. Alastor mentioned that he would like you to perform more jazz.
Once he got back to the hotel, he had your song stuck in his head all night, tapping his foot as he thought about it.
The next morning before you got out of bed you expected some alone time, but Alastor interrupted your plans. He was pretty curious about exploring new feelings and figured you could help him with his curiosity.
He took your engagement ring off your finger and asked if you still wanted it. You said no and Alastor burned it away.
Now, onto the show!
I wake up and look at the alarm clock on the nightstand. It's pretty early, but it's the next day. I never left my room yesterday?! I feel my hair and can tell it's just a tangled mess. My covers and bed are just in shambles. My clothes are nowhere to be found. It looks like I had a wrestling match on my bed. Well... at one point... maybe a little. I absolutely need a shower.
I don't exactly remember when I fell asleep, but I do remember Alastor was still with me. I wonder when he left. I guess a better way of putting it is I wonder how long he stayed. Did he sleep here too?
Walking from the bed to the bathroom reminds me of how sore my entire body is. It feels like I ran a marathon yesterday! It's impressive how tired and sore I can be without even leaving my bedroom. Never in my life have I had an experience like that, and I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be playing on repeat in my mind all day. A warm shower will do some good.
Starting up the shower to get the warm water running and brushing my teeth helps me feel a bit more awake. I stretch a bit, trying to get these sore muscles loosened up. Looking in the mirror I can see a few areas I'm going to want to cover up unless I want to be questioned more than I already feel like I will be. I pull my hair back from the side of my neck. That damn demon couldn't have left a bite mark at least a little lower so I could hide it better?!
A warm shower is just what I need right now. The water running over my face helps me shake away any remaining sleepy feelings I have. Washing my hair helps with knots and body wash is just the cherry on top.
Trying to pick an outfit for the day really shouldn't be this hard, but here we are. After putting together too many combinations of shirts and pants I think I finally found something that won't look too ridiculous. A pair of black pants, a red three-quarter sleeved shirt and a nice black neck scarf to cover any leftover marks should look classy enough, right?
I make my way to the main lobby where it looks like Charlie is setting up an activity with Vaggie. The small girl that I've learned is named Niffty is cleaning the windows, and Husk and Angel are sitting at the bar. Still no sign of Alastor.
"Hey! You live!" I hear Angel yell at me from the bar. "Both literally and figuratively." He laughs. I walk over to him and Husk. "Haven't seen you since our night out. Hit you that hard, huh?" Angel probes.
"Yeah, what exactly happened to you?" Husk asks. His tone sounds different than what I'm used to hearing.
"Didn't you walk her home?" Angel questions him. Before Husk can answer him, I answer Angel's earlier question.
"Honestly that night is such a blur." I take a seat at the bar and put my hand to my forehead. "I drank a bit too much. I do remember Husk walking me out." I smile at him, but that statement doesn't seem to put him ease. "I just..." What am I supposed to say? Do I tell them I've made a deal with Alastor? Vaggie knows, so they'll probably know at some point. Do I tell them the real reason why I never left my room yesterday? "...needed a lot of recovery time." I finish my sentence. Technically that's not a lie.
"Uh huh." Angel's tone of voice doesn't sound like he's convinced. "I've seen this outfit before, hot stuff. I've worn this outfit before." I don't exactly understand what Angel is referring to. I'm confused as he leans closer and pulls at the scarf around my neck. "That's what I thought." He sounds so proud of himself. "Oh Shit! Is that a bite mark?! (y/n), you naughty girl!" He jokes as he laughs.
"Hey!" I push his hand away and fix up my scarf. "Shut up!" I don't really have any good retorts to his quick wits.
"Who was it?" Angel has his head resting on his hands and a smug smile on his face. Husk on the other hand looks mortified. I'm not sure if I should be offended by that or not.
"It was your mom." I retort to Angel quickly. Maybe I do have funny responses! "She's a little feisty. Could've warned me."
I got Angel to laugh, but nothing from Husk. Really? I thought that would've got him.
"Fine, keep your secrets. Until we take you out again at least." Angel winks at me. Crap, what else did I say to the group that night? "Just don't get pregnant. I'm not even sure how that would work with your situation." Angel shrugs.
I never even considered that as a possibility. Shit! No! "Fuck!" I accidentally say out loud. I look at Angel. "There's no way... that could..." He knows where I'm going with this, right? Please don't make me say it.
Angel looks wide eyed at me. "Oh, hot stuff." He relaxes and shakes his head, standing up and putting his hand on my head. "I have something at work that you can take. As long as you take it within 48 hours. I'll pick it up and bring it back. I have to leave soon anyways."
I put both of my hands together, fingers extended and palms together in front of my face. "Thank you thank you thank you."
"Yeah, of course." Angel reminds me of a caring older brother. He teases me sure, but he seems to truly care and is very helpful. "Maybe I should grab a few then? You horny bunny!" Angel laughs as he walks away. That was uncalled for.
"You ended up making a deal with him, didn't you?" Husk interrupts my thought process. I focus back on him, he looks upset.
I sigh. "I did." I lay my head on the bar. "The worst part is that I made a deal with him when I was blackout drunk. So, I don't remember the specifics. I just have to take his word for it." I don't move my head, but I move my eyes to look at Husk. "I probably belong here, don't I?"
Husk shrugs. "That's not for me to decide." He opens a beer and takes a drink. "But I mean, I don't remember reading the part in the Bible that redeems the girl who fucked a demon." He points the bottle opener at me. "And not just any demon girlie. You're tangling with some dangerous power. You're gonna get yourself hurt." Apparently, I'm at the point in my life where I'm getting advice from the bartender.
I roll my eyes. I feel so defeated. "I guess at least I'm only hurting myself and not my family anymore." I should probably elaborate for Husk. I look back at him, head still slumped on the bar, I look depressed. "Alastor's side of the deal is that he wiped the memories of anyone who knew me. Now it doesn't matter if I live here or whatever."
"Oh, don't give me that bullshit." Husk puts his beer on the bar, making me finally lift my head and look at him. "I don't deal with self-pity bullshit piss babies. You're not worth anything? Then jump off a building and join the rest of us." He opens another beer and hands it to me. "From what I remember the night we were all hanging out, you seem like a fun, interesting, smart girl whose empathy rivals Charlie's. If you have that good of a heart for people, even us demons here, then you're meant for bigger things." He holds his beer up and clinks it against mine. "Just because you're a power bottom at rock bottom doesn't mean you're alone. Keep fighting, girlie."
I don't know what to say to Husk's pep talk. It was brutal, hilarious, and exactly what I needed to get some motivation back. I smile and take a sip of my beer. "Thanks Husk. I needed that." I finally got him to smile. There's a little silence as we both drink a little.
"For real though, you need real food around here." I recommend.
