Scout and Sniper sat in silence for a good portion of the ride home. They only talked when directions were needed.

Scout couldn't take the silence any longer but there was nothing to talk about, well other than the obvious. Scout wanted to help his best friend, he wanted him to be more open. It couldn't be healthy, whether physically, mentally or emotionally, to keep everything to yourself in hopes that the "problem" fixes itself. Though he couldn't force him to do anything, but maybe he could coax it out of him.

"Hey," Scout said, "Uh. . .remember the conversation from earlier?"

Sniper only grunted, trying to dismiss what the boy was getting at, but how could he forget. The only thing that's been grounding him from delving further into this journey of searching for the one who sent Jack after Wolf was, well, the thoughts surrounding Wolf.

"Why won't ya just admit it?" Scout pressed further. He wanted to know how the recluse's mind worked in this situation.

"Dunno, guess Oi 'aven't put much thought t' it." Sniper was lying to both Scout and himself.

"C'mon Snipes," Scout sighed, "Ya got'sta tell someone someday... 'specially her."

Sniper did nothing in response, only tightening and loosening his grip on the wheel. He wanted Scout to leave it alone. . . like he did.

Sniper took his thumb and forefinger and pinched the bridge of his nose, pushing his shades up. He had started tuning Scout's voice out, he didn't want to listen to his nonsensical babbling.

The stress of everything had finally gotten to him. He fished out the pack of cigarettes from a compartment in the driver door, set one between is fingers and grabbed out the lighter from his vest pocket. He cracked the window slightly before lighting it. The indulgence of the grey fog that seeped out the widow forced him to calm down and allowed him to think more clearly.

"Sniper!" Scout shouted angrily.

"Huh?" Was all Sniper could manage.

"Ya missed the friggen turn." Scout was looking at his phone trying to find a reroute to get back on track.

Sniper breathed out sharply. He got to the closest off ramp and pulled into the near by gas station.

"What are ya doin?" Scout questioned.

"Gotta fill up," Sniper said reaching for his wallet in his back pocket, "An while were 'ere ya can find us a new route."

Scout looked at his phone as Sniper got out and walked to the pump. There weren't many was to get back on route from here, and getting on a new route wasn't the best option.

After looking at his phone for a good minute he realized how hungry he had become. Scout hopped out of the camper and headed into the convince store. He grabbed a couple of the fresh doughnuts and a small bag of chips. He went over to the drinks and grabbed one of the canned sodas. As he walked away he noticed a large can of tea, it was the same brand him and Wolf had talked about not to long ago. He decided to grab one and bring it back for when she wakes up. When he walked up to counter, to pay for his stuff, he noticed Sniper walking in to get a fresh coffee. Scout paid the cashier and added Sniper's coffee to the mix.

"You and ya coffee." Scout mocked, walking up to Sniper.

"Why don't ya go back to the camper," Sniper said putting the lid on the coffee cup, "I'll pay for my cup and meet ya there."

"No need did it for ya." Scout awkwardly smile as he spoke.

"Scout," Sniper sighed, "Ya didn't 'ave t'"
