"THE BOY WITH ONE SHOE!"
Annabeth's shout destroyed the calm atmosphere and made Lyra loosen her grip on her bow. She lowered it, turning to the blonde who was panting slightly.
"What?"
"The boy with one shoe!" she repeated excitedly, a gleam in her eyes.
"No – I heard you the first time," Lyra responded, eyebrows furrowing.
Annabeth took deep breaths, a grin on her face for the first time in days. "Hera appeared in a dream and said that the answer to finding Percy is to go to the Grand Canyon and locate the guy with one shoe."
"Percy?"
Gods, she missed him. Two years ago when she had been on the run, tired and fighting monsters regularly, Lyra had stumbled across him and Annabeth. They had brought her to camp and became her first friends. Percy had trained her and taught her to use a sword. Though he wasn't much older than her, he was still like a big brother to her. A welcome change from her being the oldest in the Apollo Cabin (she pushed away the memories of her biological older brothers who would've been there if it wasn't for the bloody war).
A bright smile spread across Lyra's face. She twisted her bracelet to conceal her bow.
Annabeth winced, looking away and blinking quickly, "Lyra. . .too bright."
She was glowing, literally. "Sorry."
"We're leaving after breakfast. Be ready. Also. . ." the daughter of Athena paused, "do you mind bringing the Apollo chariot? I'll ask Butch to help with the horses."
Lyra nodded, "Sure."
Breakfast passed in a blur, and soon she was in her Cabin, speaking with her younger brother and the co-counselor of the Apollo Cabin – Will Solace. Word had spread that she and Annabeth were going to find Percy.
"We're borrowing the chariot," she informed Will as she slid her gold, silver, and bronze knives onto her. Who knows what they would face? Lyra wore her bracelet – her bow in disguise. She hesitated to pick up the keychain – the sword that Percy and Annabeth had jointly gifted her for her birthday after he proudly declared that she had done amazingly in her sessions.
In the end, Lyra pocketed it.
"Just get it back in one piece," he said, eyeing all the weapons she was carrying. "Do you need so many?"
Lyra was obsessed with collecting weapons. So much so that there was a running joke that she was actually a forgotten daughter of Ares and Apollo had accidentally claimed her. Of course, the fact that she had photokinetic abilities firmly cemented that she was a child of Apollo, but that did little to deter the others.
She only grinned sheepishly in response before exiting the Cabin. It took a little while to firmly fasten the pegasi but soon, they were in the air and Camp Half-Blood was a dot behind them.
