ANNABETH BURST IN with Rachel behind her, both of them dragging Piper between them. Lyra immediately rushed over, putting two fingers over Piper's neck.
"What happened?" Jason asked, rushing to her, "What's wrong with her?"
"Hera's cabin," Annabeth gasped for breath, "Vision. Bad."
Rachel looked up and there were tear tracks over her face. "I think. . . I think I may have killed her."
Lyra rose, looking incredibly grim, "She's alive. But barely."
"Jason? Could you help with—"
"Yeah," Jason nodded, and they lifted Piper onto the couch.
"Annabeth, the medicine bag please," Lyra called.
"Is she going to be okay?" Rachel asked tearfully.
Lyra grimaced, "Her mind is in an extremely fragile state. I don't know what happened, but it impacted her badly."
She took the bag from Annabeth, reaching for a medicinal vial. The others worriedly spoke about what happened while Lyra focused on healing Piper.
Lyra trickled drops from the vial into Piper's mouth, murmuring a hymn to Apollo while doing so. Jason explained what had happened when the room froze— the dark misty woman who had claimed to be Jason's patron.
No one spoke.
Piper's pulse was getting stronger and Lyra relaxed. She would be okay.
"So does this happen often?" Jason asked. "Supernatural phone calls from convicts demanding you bust them out of jail?"
"Your patron," Annabeth said. "Not your godly parent?"
"No, she said patron. She also said my dad had given her my life."
"And here I thought child trafficking was banned," Lyra joked to diffuse the tension.
Annabeth cracked a small smile. "I've never of heard anything like that before. You said the storm spirit on the skywalk—he claimed to be working for some mistress who was giving him orders, right? Could it be this woman you saw, messing with your mind?"
Jason shook his head, "I don't think so. If she were my enemy, why would she be asking for my help? She's imprisoned. She's worried about some enemy getting more powerful. Something about a king rising from the earth on the solstice-"
Annabeth turned to Chiron. "Not Kronos. Please tell me it's not that."
The centaur looked miserable. At last he said, "It is not Kronos. That threat is ended. But. . . "
"Chiron, could this-" Lyra cut herself off, shaking her head, "No, probably not, I'm just overthinking it."
"Lyra?" Annabeth prompted.
