I woke up at 5 A.M. on my wedding day. I was depressed of course. My ex-fiance had cheated on me the week before our wedding, and now I was getting married to his brother to save our families from dooming in shame. Anyway, I first went to the shower and then wore a robe. My friends then took me to the salon to get my hair done. It was beautiful and like a princess, however, I didn't feel like a princess at all. Isn't a princess or any girl for that matter supposed to be happy on her wedding day?
I got my makeup and nails done too. They matched the entire floral vibe. It was breathtaking. Everyone kept pitying me and feeling sorry for me. I didn't feel sorry for myself at all though, I felt anger towards Jacob. He wasted so many years of my life. I could have been with anyone better. And now I have to marry his jerk of a brother! I was fuming! But I had to go on with it. My life was meaningless anyway. It couldn't get any worse. I mean, is this really love? What exactly is love? Living with a person for years only to sleep with another girl a week before your wedding? I didn't think so.
I got dressed and ready to walk down the aisle. I didn't even get a chance to see Jacob and talk to him. My dad came over to me, and said, "It's going to be all right, Pumpkin. If that boy doesn't treat you right, you come straight home. To hell with their reputation!" "Thanks, Dad," The music played. Everything was just as I'd imagined it to be. The lights, the music, the view, The guests looking at us anxiously, everything, except the groom. Hugo had put on a poker face which had fooled everyone. Everyone except for me. He was nervous inside. He was wondering how the hell did he end up at the end of an aisle with a girl he didn't even know properly. I walked up to him, arm-in-arm with my dad, and then I took a deep breath. We said our vows and then the Priest said, "You may kiss the bride." It was a very quick and uncomfortable kiss but everyone still clapped. The Maid of Honor then gave a speech. There was no Best Man because, well, The Best Man was upgraded to the Groom.
"Hey everyone, I'll keep this short. I'm Marianne Dubois, The Maid of Honor at this wedding. You all must know our lovely Bride Savannah, and our groom Hugo. I don't know a lot about the groom and since I am the Bride's best friend, I would like to say a few words about her. Savannah Thompson, well, now Savannah Holden, is the bravest, most special girl I've ever known. I discovered her in a grocery store once when she was having a little trouble with the cashier. Well, it was New York, am I right? So I helped her and asked her where she was from. She was a little girl at the time and broke down. Ever since that day, I knew that this girl right here is an extraordinary person and I am honored to call her my friend Thank you."
Everyone clapped and my eyes were glinting with tears. I hugged her and we continued with the reception. "Hey, you okay?" Hugo asked me. It was the first time he actually talked to me politely. "Yeah, I'm alright. I'm sorry you had to get into this mess." "Hey, don't say that, my brother's my responsibility right?" Hey uttered. " Not really..." I sighed. We cut our beautiful floral cake. It had 5 layers and there were flowers all around it. We went on with the night and dare I say I enjoyed it a little. I threw by bouquet and Holly caught it! Hugo and I had to dance a bit for the people. Overall, the night wasn't too bad. Jacob came to the wedding but he didn't dare speak to anyone. He just stood in a corner, silent.
After the 'magical' night, we went to sleep in separate rooms. I was lying on the bed for hours, but I couldn't sleep. I knocked at Hugo's door. "May I come in?" I asked. "Yeah," He responded. "You're awake too?" I asked, opening the door. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep after such an eventful night." "Hah! Me neither." He got up and sat on the bed, and I grabbed a chair. "So, what do you like to do in your free time?" I inquired "Well, I like to do things with my animals, go on walks, hike," "I thought you weren't a camping guy," "I only said that to get out of a boys trip of getting drunk all night and talking about girls." "Good choice!" I giggled. Maybe Hugo wasn't as bad as I thought. "What about you?" He asked me. "I like listening to music, reading, writing, you know, basic stuff." "That's nice," "Hey, um, so have you decided where you'll live?" Hugo spoke. "I was thinking that I could live with you, since you already have a permanent settlement and I don't." I commented. "Alright. Also, I'm really sorry about being so rude earlier. I shouldn't have talked to you like that. "It's okay. I feel really bad about the fact that you got stuck into this mess because of me." "Nah, don't sweat it." He said. "You know, I've always wanted a pet," I added. "Really? Then you'll love my clinic." We talked and talked for a long time and we finally slept around 4 a.m.
Around 12 noon, I woke up. I discovered that I'd been sleeping on the chair all morning. Hugo was not in the room. Suddenly, I heard screaming. "Why do I get to be with her? No mum, it's not fair." I couldn't hear more. Last night was a lie. He didn't want to be with me. I got up and went out. "You! If you didn't want to be with me so badly, why did you sweet talk me last night?" I shrieked. "It's not what you think." "I don't want to hear anything from you!" I said and left. I went to my safe spot. Which was a park. Somehow, he followed me there. "Jacob told you, didn't he?" I asked him. "Yeah, anyway, I was saying, it's not fair to you! Living with the man you don't love. You're handling this really well, but I simply don't think that you'll be happy with me." "You're lying." I said, not being able to believe a word he was saying." "No, I'm not. I-I'm not Jacob, all right? I'm boring." "I think I need a boring guy. Look where Mr. Exciting got me." We both chuckled. "I want to stay with you, Hugo." "Me too."
