The tense moment that has been building between you is suddenly broken, interrupted by the sound of Namjoon's cell phone ringing from his pocket.
He takes a quick peek at it and curses under his breath. "It's a call from work," he sighs, while you merely chuckle at the sight of his face.
"It's okay. Go ahead and take it. I bet the people from your office are getting overwhelmed since you keep changing your schedules so randomly," you tease him while laughing softly, referring to the way he has been making impulsive decisions regarding his busy schedules just because of you.
Namjoon takes a quick glance around. While you were busy talking about the circumstances regarding your relationship with Namjoon, the restaurant has gotten quite busier.
One of the closest booths is filled with what seems to be a group of college students who are getting rowdy as they are ordering their meals and chatting against the muted tone of music playing from the speakers, making it impossible for Namjoon to receive such an important call in the middle of the dining area.
"I should take this outside," he regretfully says as he rises from his seat, surprising you when he leans down to press a chaste kiss at your temple. "I'll be right back. Make sure to finish the food while it's still warm."
You are still speechless as you watch him turn and make his way out of the eatery with long strides of footsteps until he disappears out the door, while your skin still tingles right where he pressed his lips.
The moment you are left on your own, and once your heartbeat begins to slow down, your mind suddenly becomes the loudest.
The moment Namjoon's voice of reason leaves you, all the doubts that he managed to suppress are beginning to rear their ugly little heads, and every single question that you have been trying to silence comes echoing through your head.
Did he really mean everything that he said?
Would he ever have any thought of trying for a relationship it if hadn't been for the baby?
Why would he risk so much just for this when it would only change his life like it is changing yours?
He said he is ready now but would he think the same in a year? Or two? And how about later when reality sinks in and he wakes up to realise just how much he has been sacrificing just for you and your babies?
One question and another keeps coming and going so rapidly to the point they start overlapping each other. You can barely make sense of everything anymore when your sub-conscience slowly wins and fear takes over. Lost in your thoughts that are filled with worries, your hands begin to tremble, and the urge to bolt right out of this place is beginning to overcome you now that Namjoon isn't here to distract you from it.
Just then, a shadow comes hovering at your booth, and a wave of relief comes back to you, as you falsely think that Namjoon has returned from his phone call. Yet you soon realise how wrong you are once the person standing at the side of your booth clears his throat and says your name.
