"Your phone is vibrating."
You have been working together with Zayna in your private office for hours, accompanied by the sounds of your fingers typing on your laptop and the tip of your co-worker's pen scratching over the paper as she takes notes from your discussion—an upcoming event at the art gallery which would be another massive project held under your lead.
So the moment she makes a nonchalant comment about your phone—which is so obviously vibrating on top of your desk—it takes a moment for your brain to process it. You raise your head, looking away from your laptop screen to look at your friend.
Raising her eyebrows, Zayna points at your phone, "It's been vibrating for a while now."
With a sigh, you barely glance at your phone before focusing on your laptop again, simply humming in return, "Mhmm."
"Are you not going to answer it?" she curiously asks you with her eyes glancing back at your phone, which has been placed with its screen facing down ever since it started ringing hours ago.
"Mmm—nope," you answer her curtly without glancing away from your laptop.
It has been two days since you walked out of Namjoon's house while feeling perplexed and lost. Since then, you have been doing your best to avoid him. This would be the first week that you haven't been spending time at his house, and you haven't been answering his phone calls, no matter what time he tries to contact you.
Ignoring his text messages is the only thing that you are unable to do. Knowing Namjoon, he wouldn't have given up unless you replied to him, so you still responded to his texts, even if they were no more than short messages just to shut him up and give you space.
'I'm busy.'
'I can't see you right now.'
'I'm a bit tired. Can I call you tomorrow?'
— these are a few of the messages you have sent him back to each of the relentless messages he was sending you. You know that it wouldn't be enough, and the poor man might have been pulling at his hair in frustration by now. But you aren't exactly ready to face him or to talk to him yet.
Perhaps that had been the reason why he had been calling you almost every hour today.
Deep down, you acknowledge that you are being childish. There is always a more mature way of handling this. But just thinking about confronting him about what you saw that day makes you grow wary and exhausted. Almost as if your soul has no more will to face any form of confrontation and drama, after having to face the whole drama of your failed marriage and family betrayal not too long ago.
You know that you need to talk to him, and that conversation will eventually happen. It needs to happen. And you also know that you should be trusting Namjoon instead of doubting him after everything that he has been showing you for the past few weeks.
