I sit here and wonder why I am here. Here I am freezing my butt off in town just so my brothers can try to be knights. I mean why I am here? Here I sit on benches, in trousers and long shirt thinking I would be okay in the weather, right next to a palace overlooking fields and fields of tents and fighting gear. Everybody is so excited for the king so they can try and become knights. So, I can watch my brothers get beat up by pumpkis picks that don't know any kindness. Ryan comes out of a tent and up in his fighting gear to me, his dirty blond hair ruffled by the wind. He was very handsome; all the ladies loved him. Everyone says it's his muscles, but I think it's his eye, my eyes. His dark brown eyes met mine as he handed me his jacket, "You can go home I think we will be okay. I mean Archer is getting ready to fight the other contestants that are here, and I was going to see who I can buddy up with so we can have some allies. If you want to stay here, practically growling at all the royals while freezing your but off and get yourself killed then go ahead."

I rolled my eyes. Of course, he saw right through my bluff of liking it here. I mean, I could try and go home after father left the house, but if he saw me at home doing nothing but reading. He would be mad and without Ryan or Archer I can't imagine what he would do. "I'm fine" I snapped, "and I wasn't growling at them I was just showing them my beautiful smile." With that he smiles and ruffles my hair that I had done the bare minimum with this morning.

"Whatever, maybe you should go out into the woods like you do so you can read or hunt." He gave a smile to me as Archer started walking over. He too was in his fighting gear, a sword at his hilt and small daggers on his other side. Oh, how I remember beating him with one of those swords when we were younger.

"I am not going to leave you both here alone. What if one of you get hurt, who going to help," I look at Archer and say, "And if so, much as think of saying the healers I will take that sword from your side and burry in your side myself.

He makes a sarcastic look, "How dare you think I would say that, Elise. I would never dare think those royal healers could do anything even though they work for our king and queen." Ryan nudged Archer in the side signaling the arrival of something. They both turn to look and look across the fields of tents. I turn with them and see a royal carriage signaling that the king is here so the "tryouts" can start. I get up as my brothers start walking towards the street that the carriage will stop on.

"Isn't that a little too big for just the king," I say right as the carriage pulls up in front of us as a crowd slowly starts to form. The carriage was big, it was more a two-person or a four-person. It was more like eight- or ten-person carriages. Only used by the royals and their guests.

Ryan puzzled, "I don't know, I thought it was just the king." We both turn to Archer who shrugs.

"Don't look at me. I'm as clueless as you guys." And just as finished the door swung open and the king Huarwar stepped out. I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes as he steps out like he owned the entire world and everything on it. The king was not bad king in fact he is a very respectable. He came out of the carriage and the first thing you can see is his bright green eyes followed by his long slender nose. The king was wearing long leather trousers that would cost me and my brothers a fortune with a nice white long sleeve shirt. King Huarwar also wearing his infamous clock that he apparently won with the kingdom when he defatted the Fae's about 20 years ago. The second his foot touched the ground we all started to bow. Nobody looks at anything but the dirt until the king cleared his throat. Just as we all got up another pair of eyes look out from the carriage.

They were a deep blue like the ocean, you could see the waves in his ocean. His eyes met mine and i got lost on those waves like a ship with no place to go home. I feel a nudge on my ribs and get out of my trance to look at Archer. He is staring straight ahead not even look at me. I huff and turn back to the carriage. The person comes out his features are soft on the sun and with bright blonde hair smoothed over to the side of his face. There is whispering around us as people start to bow again. I follow suit but I don't know exactly why we are bowing for this stranger. I turn to Ryan and whisper, "Who is that?"
