I open my eyes. I hear a soft melody. I look around the tent trying to remember where I am. I see Archer and Ryan still asleep on the cots. I slowly get out of bed trying to find the source of the music. It is dark outside, and the moon is shining bright so bright it looks like daylight. If the music wasn't playing, I would have just sat here and watch the moon and stars. I remember how I used to do that with Ryan and Archer when dad was out of town. We would go outside with a blanket and a pillow and would all lay down and watch the stars till the sun was up. We all would be so tired the next day that we couldn't do anything, but it was worth it. I quickly put my shoes on and my coat and step out of the tent. I turn to make sure my brothers are still asleep. I step outside and follow the music.
The music it seemed was coming from the forest nearby. I look at the trees loving the smell of bark and leaves. I keep walking through the trees remembering how the tree near my house has kept me safe from my dad. I saw a clearing up head. The clearing had a lake that simmered with the moon light and looked very inviting to take a swim. It also had a small dock leading to the center of it. Just as I was about to walk into a clearing, I saw something in the corner of my eyes. I creature moving so fast around the edge of the clearing I couldn't make out what it was. The creature final came to a stop in the middle of the clearing. It wasn't a creature but a man. The man was turned away from me so I couldn't see his face. He was tall, taller than any man I have ever seen. His hair was short. In the moon light I could see it was a dark brown if you didn't know any better it could pass as black. Slowly the man turned around the clearing as if he was looking for something or someone. He turns so I was looking at the side of his face and my breath was taken away.
He was not a man. No, he was Fae. I could see his long pointy ears peeking out from his hair. Just as I suck in my breath he heard and spun to look. Our eyes met and I saw his full face. It was beautiful. His eyes where the color of the grass right as the sun peaked over a hill with the doe still there. His nose was long but slender and his lips. Red and bright with the moon light. I look back to his eyes after releasing what I was looking at just to see him doing the same thing I was. He brings his up to mine and it's almost like his eyes soften. I quickly realize how much danger I could be in. I mean Fae are meant to be dead for over 20 years. I slowly back away and pull my knife I always keep in my coat. The second I move his eyes sharpen once again. He looks towards my knife and waits. He does not come running after me as I would think. No, he just stands there as I back away. That is when I realize the music stopped. There was no more soft music playing from the clearing only silence of the trees swaying and the birds rising from there slumber.
I quickly walk back to the tent releasing that it is now 3am and Ryan is probably waiting for me to start working out. I head back and realize that neither Ryan nor Archer is awake. Thats odd they normally are always up currently to start training. I walk out of the tent and grab a bucket of cold water. It's been sitting outside all night, so it has a slight bit of frost on the top layer or it. "Perfect." I say with a smile. They used to do this to me so much that I began walking up 2 hours before them to make sure it never happened again. Though I never did it to them because I was worried dad would hear about it and get mad. This was different, I was feeling more daring after encountering that Fae in the woods. Somehow, I thought if a Fae could come out and not be scared or attack me then I could pour a bucket of cold water on my brothers.
I walk back into the tent with the biggest smile on my face. Never have I ever been this brave or excited to anything like this in my life. I quickly splash water on Ryan first then rush over to Archer and do the same. Both bolt out of bed yelping like dogs. I can't stop smiling. My face feels tight like I haven't smiled in years, and I realize I haven't.
Archer is looking at me like I am the devil while Ryan is just look at me in awe. "What the Fluff Elise. I was in the middle of fighting the giants." Archer says in a high pitch tone you only here when is startled.
