My first few classes were alright, but nothing to be overly excited about. The only downside to it was that Hermione kept saying "Me, me!" every time a question was asked. I really liked Herbology though since it connects with Potions because plants are needed as ingredients for potions that you have to make. It's now break time, but it's about to end in a couple of minutes, so right now I'm walking to Potions. Tonight, I plan on going to the Chamber of Secrets since in the movies they didn't really show what else was down there. Plus, I'm pretty sure that Salazar's personal chambers, study, and library are down there too. I'll just ask him after classes are done.

I open the door to Potions and see that I'm the first one here. I decide to sit fairly in the middle towards the middle. As I sit down, I notice the name "Tom Riddle" carved into the desk. I laugh. What a coincidence. "Look, Nagini. Tom and I had the same seats. His name is carved into the desk. Isn't that funny?" I told her.

"Yes, it is considering the fact that the two of you are soulmates."

I simply nod my head in agreement. I decide to spend the remaining time by pulling out my book on 1st year potions, parchment, and my ink and quills. People are starting to come to class and since I still have at least five minutes to spare before class officially starts, I pull out my book on star constellations. Draco and the rest of the Slytherins soon come in and sit around me. "Hello Cousin." Draco says to me.

"Hello Draco. How was your break?" I ask him.

"It was good considering I didn't have to hear Weasley whine or Granger being an insufferable know it all." he replies.

I simply chuckle at his accurate description of them. Soon the door slams close and I see Professor Snape rushing down the aisles. "There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few...who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper...in death." Snape says while he glances at me and Draco a couple times throughout his speech.

I start to write down a couple of notes when Snape looks in my direction. "Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough...to not...pay...attention." Snape says.

Draco nudges me which makes me see Professor Snape in front of me. "Ms. Black. Our...new...celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood." he asks me.

Hermione soon raises her hand while I simply roll my eyes. "Put your hand down silly girl. I'm not talking to you." He yells at Hermione as she slowly puts down her hand.

"Asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful that it's known as the Draught of Living Death."

"Good. Very Good. Now where would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?"

"A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat, *cough* Dumbledors, and it will save you from most poisons."

The Slytherins start to giggle while all of the Gryffindors glare at me while I just smirk. "Lastly, what is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?"

"Monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant, which also goes by the name of aconite."

"Good I see someone has done some extra reading. 20 points to Slytherin."

"That's not fair! Hermione had her hand up the entire time and you chose to ignore her!" Ron shouted.

"Well Mr. Weasley I had already told her that I wasn't talking to her, so shut up and sit back down!" Snape yells.

The classroom goes entirely silent. "How does she know all that? It isn't even in our textbooks" someone in the classroom says.

"Well? Why aren't you all copying this down?"

As soon as Professor Snape says this everyone starts writing. "And Gryffindors, not that 10 points will be taken from your house...for your classmate's cheek." Snape says while looking at Ron in disdain.

Welcome to Defence Against The Dark Arts. I'm Professor Slytherin and this is Professor Malfoy. We both are the DADA teachers. Usually, we both aren't teaching at the same time, but since it is your first day we've decided we would teach you both today to introduce ourselves." Tom says while looking over the classroom.

"Nagini, come." he says which startles a couple of students.

She soon makes her way towards Tom, and he puts her on top of his shoulders. "This year you'll mostly be focusing on learning jinxes, curses, and hexes. What you learn inside this classroom is not to be used on other students carelessly." Lucius continues.

"Ms. Black and Mr. Weasley. May you please come up and demonstrate some spells that you know on each other." Tom asked us.

I simply nodded my head and made my way towards the front of the classroom. As soon as we're both on the platform that was conjured, I take my stance and wait for Ron's first move. He suddenly shouts, "Slugulus Eructo!"

I simply rolled my eyes at the childish curse he tried to give me. Really. Slugs? "Protego!" I shouted.

Which I then followed with, "Levicorpus!"

As soon as it left my mouth, he was in the air being held up by one of his ankles. The class started to laugh at him. He began calling me a whole bunch of things that I really couldn't understand. "Alright enough of that, you can let him down now." Lucius said.

With a wave of my hand, he fell to the floor. "As you can see there are many things you can do. There are also shields that you can produce, but we won't be getting into that until later on." Lucius explained.

He then starts to explain what jinxes are. "A common mistake people make is when they're defining the three. A jinx is a spell cast to cause damage or other negative effects. Jinxes are similar to curses, but typically not as powerful or cast with such negative intention. Jinxes are part of defensive magic. Some jinxes include uncontrollable dancing, being tickled, and having jelly-like legs."

"Curses are a type of dark magic, useful in duels and battle. Along with hexes and jinxes, they are known as 'Dark Charms'. While considered to be Dark, and therefore bad, some curses are actually used by witches and wizards who would never be seen to be evil." he continued.

"Hexes are spells that are used to cause harm or discomfort to the target. They can range from simple spells that cause a minor inconvenience, to more powerful spells that can cause serious injury or even death. Hexes are more commonly used in duels and in self-defense." Tom finished.

"And with that classes are over. I hope that everyone wrote what we said down. I want what we discussed in today's class on a 1-foot length scroll that's due tomorrow at the beginning of class. Have a good rest of your day." Lucius said as he waved his hand.

I could see that Nagini really missed Tom, so I was going to let her stay with him to catch up. I waited till everyone left and walked up to them. "It was good seeing the both of you. If possible, could we have a talk about something containing my other mate tonight?"

"Yes darling, that's quite fine" Lucius said as he patted my head.

"Ok! Have fun!" I said while smiling as I ran out of the classroom.

As I closed the door, I could hear both of them chuckling. But, hey. At least the first day wasn't awful.
