A Feeling of Comfort

With Shadow saying goodbye to the last of his family, the pack wandered off again. His heart ached with the weight of their goodbye, but he somehow knew that their paths would cross again. The journey was far from over, and the bond he shared with his long-lost siblings and the pack was unbreakable, but he knew he had to let them go.

The weight of their journey laid heavy on Yuna's shoulders, but she knew she had to remain strong for the others. When they rested after hours of walking, she laid near a big rock. She was lost in her thoughts when she was then interrupted by Shadow. "Ah, sorry, I didn't see or hear you. Is there something you need?", her voice was tinged with curiosity as she gazed up at the towering being who stood before her.

"Overthinking once again, weren't you?", his golden eyes captured her gaze. "I suppose I have been lost in my thoughts," she admitted. "Why?", her ear twitched. "It's almost dark. You've been in that position since we stopped to rest", his eyes noticed the tiredness on her face. "I understand that you and the others worry about me but please, let me do what I have to do. I've only completed half of my promise", her tone was low yet smooth upon replying.

She felt tired but she was not giving up, not at this rate. Earth depended on her and the time for it to be saved came close. But another thing she wasn't prepared for, was an evil force.

Moving closer, Shadow's frame almost touched her, "But a savior needs rest to conserve and fulfill the other part it wants to complete." Looking down for a moment, she sighed, "I indeed need rest, but how can I rest when the weight on my shoulders tries to drag me down? Everyone depends on me, including you. I saw how you were with your siblings, how happy you looked and reunited with them, thinking that they were lost forever. From the very beginning, you were quiet, dull, and in pain. Now that we've made it this far, I see how much you've changed. I want to give you and the rest their happiness and peace back into their lives. I only wish to see things take place as they should have been from the beginning."

Her tired gaze still had that determination glint in her. His expression softened, understanding dawning within him, "Your burdens are heavy, but remember, even saviors need saving sometimes." The air between them was heavy with unspoken emotions passing. And as they gazed at each other time stopped once more. Taking the chance, Shadow leaned and over towered her, his muzzle touching her.

The gentle touch of his nuzzle against her head sent an unexplainable feeling, awakening a sense of longing she had long buried deep within her heart. It was a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes as she closed her eyes, letting herself be enveloped by the warmth of his presence, relief slowly consuming her.

Finally breaking contact, she looked up at him. "Thank you, Shadow. I needed that", her eyes were filled with gratitude. Then, his muzzle traveled near her ear, nibbling it. She felt a rush of warmth spread through her at the endearment, causing his tail to wag, which he hadn't done in ages. As he pulled back, a small smirk played on his mouth before he trotted off to find Sparrow.

"What was that all about?", her thought spoke. The feeling she felt, felt new and strange to her. And the thing he did, meant something else. Upon finding Sparrow, Shadow noticed that his expression looked different from usual. It was kind of strange as he too had the look and was deep in thought. Curious to know he couldn't help but ask, "Why that look, Sparrow? Something troubling you?"

"I just can't believe it", he replied. "What's going on?" his confusion evident.

"It's about Rosalie."
