Home sweet Home

Sam knocked on your door the next morning after you woke up early to your set alarm and took a bath. You'd been cycling through the same 4 outfits for the past three weeks- Dean's flannel, the outfit you wore when you came into this world, two pairs of sweatpants, and a pack of soft cotton t-shirts. The new clothes had appeared on your bed after you'd asked the younger Winchester brother where you could do your laundry. They also kept a pack of underwear and some sports bras. Another thing that proved that you could've had it way worse when you switched worlds.

You beckon Sam in as you throw the towel over the wooden seat in the room, grimacing slightly at the books littered over your table. You'd brought a few books to continue reading in your room when the angel entered the library during one of your haunts- books on vampires, werewolves, and some other manuals on basic medical procedures. Sam notices them at the same time and chuckles lightly, his forehead creasing.

"I was going to keep them back," you provide and eye the bag he's holding. "Is that-"

"Yeah, here," Sam walks to your bed and settles the duffle bag down. "I put some basics- first aid kit, a torch, uh, glow sticks, iodine pills," he nods at you, "some ammo, an angel sword. And you can put your clothes in there." He pauses, eyeing your table again. "And, uh, take any book from the library. It'll probably help you more than it'll help us." His eyebrows push together as he looks back at you, pushing his hands into his pocket.

"Sam, I- wow, thanks. For- for packing the bag. And-"

He huffs. "Don't worry about it. I also wanted to give you this," he says and reaches into the bag for a small leather journal, handing it to you. The pages are filled with drawings of runes and sigils and under them are small descriptions. You catch a few words as you skim past them. Angel-warding symbols.

"You can't really find these in any book, or if you can it's all scattered," he breathes again in a small laugh. "Cas helped me out a bit with these, too."

You trace a symbol with your finger. "Yeah, I know this one. I've used it before. Bobby showed me." You look at him again as a smile forces its way onto your face. "Thank you, Sam." You raise the book slightly. "This is- this will be helpful. Thank you."

He nods his head. "Rowena will be here in a few more hours. You coming out for breakfast?"

You look up from the journal, wanting to devour all the information in it immediately. You didn't exactly give Castiel a lot of time to research the incantation, but you hoped he found it. "Yeah, uh- I'll come in a bit."

He nods once again, gives a small smile and moves towards your door.

"Sam?"

"Yeah?" He turns back, face open.

"Sometimes, I think that," you hesitate, then steel yourself. "I think that you guys are only helping me out so much cause I look like. Like your friend."

Sam winces slightly, shaking his head. "We're not-we're not stupid, Y/n," he gives a wry chuckle. "We know you're not her."

It's...it hardly fills a tenth of the small container.

Rowena had arrived shortly after you finished breakfast with Sam and Castiel. Dean did not make an appearance. As Sam and you chewed on scrambled eggs and toast, Castiel spoke about the importance of bees in the ecosystem (after you had added a spoon of honey to your green tea that Sam prepared and praised God for one more gift.)

She was a petite redhead and her thick Scottish accent intrigued you. For a witch, she was quite glamorous. But then again, you hadn't met many witches in your life so it wasn't like you could compare.
