Damon carried Alyssa inside the mansion and went back out to help Stefan carry all the items they bought inside. When they were done setting everything up, Damon held Alyssa in his arms and sat on the couch, gently rubbing her back and humming songs in her ear.
Damon and Stefan had set up a playpen in the spare room and had just finished setting up some side bars for the bed, making it look like a big toddler bed. Damon undid the covers and gently laid Alyssa into bed and tucked her in, kissing her head before he walked out of the room.
Both brothers were talking to Bonnie downstairs while working on putting batteries into some of her toys.
"Wow... poor Alyssa." Bonnie said. "I understand. It must be a lot for you guys, too. Are you two okay with this?" She asked.
"Yes." Damon said. "I owe it to Liz and Caroline, and Stefan is helping me watch her too. And to watch me and make sure I don't go crazy with her around."
"Good. I bet Caroline would murder you both if anything happened to her, and I don't blame her." Bonnie said.
"Yeah, yeah, we heard the whole song and dance about how Caroline will raise hell upon us if he harmed her." Damon said while rolling his eyes.
Bonnie suddenly saw a picture on one of the side tables in the living room.
"Is this your dad?" She asked out of curiosity.
"Yeah, why?" Damon asked.
"I've seen him in a dream once before." She said.
"He was an asshole to us. I don't even know why we have these pictures still up." Said Damon. He took the picture and threw it downstairs in the basement, shattering the glass in the frame.
Alyssa was sleeping peacefully. She was having a strange dream where she was being transported in the 1800s. She saw horse-drawn carriages, beautiful buildings, and women wearing beautiful gowns and men with top hats and tail coats. Some of them had fancy mustaches.
She suddenly felt she was teleporting into the woods, and she felt lost. She started to wander around for a bit and found the old Salvatore mansion. It was big and beautiful, but there was a sudden darkness creeping out of it.
She wandered inside and saw Katherine walk out of the front door with a smile on her face. She felt a chill run down her spine as Katherine walked right through her as if she were a ghost. She looked behind her and watched as Katherine walked off and vanished when she left the property.
She continued walking inside the house and froze in horror when she saw Damon being beaten by his father, Guiseppe Salvatore. Giuseppe looked up at her and smiled.
"My my! Looks like we have a new guest in the house. Maybe we should give her a warm welcome!" He said before beating her with the belt he was using on Damon.
Alyssa felt the pain of her beating in both her dream and in reality. She immediately woke up feeling her stomach turn, and her body went pale.
She didn't scream, but she cried loud enough for Damon and Stefan to hear her. Damon rushed upstairs and saw Alyssa pale, crying and shaking violently.
"Hey. What's wrong, Ally? Did you have a bad dream?" Damon asked calmly and hugged her, stroking her head.
Alyssa nodded as she wailed in his arms. He gently rocked back and forth, hoping to calm her down.
"It's okay. I'm right here. I'm always gonna be here for you." Damon said reassuringly.
Damon picked her up and noticed a wet spot on her bed.
