Game Over

Instead of waking in their room, relieved to know all of this was some crazy dream brought on by snail pie before bed, Frisk awakes to the darkness of Mount Ebott's enormous interior. Much to their disappointment, their current plight is still very much real.

Weary of how much time has passed since they arrived, the teen gets a move-on, partially surprised that their murderous twin hasn't caught up yet. All the more reason to pick up the pace. Despite everything that has happened since the previous universe, the plan remains the same. Doctor Gaster may be dead at this point in time, leaving Alphys the sole option of getting home.

If they can make it back to their original timeline and brace the others for a fight, then there might still be a chance. Their happy ending of seven years may be salvageable after all-

Where is Flowey?

In front of Frisk is a small patch of grass illuminated by cracks in the cavern above. The only seeable part of an otherwise pitch-dark area. Except in place of where a seemingly innocent talking flower should be is nothing at all.

This means one of two things. Either Flowey got bored waiting for his new 'playmate' to wake from their nap, or the DT experiments have yet to transpire. The first theory is shot down after Frisk remembers multiple past occurrences where they'd wait at the start of their journey to see what would happen only to be rewarded with continued silence.

That leaves the second theory, which is unfortunately the less ideal of the two. Flowey's non-existence could indicate Dr. Alphys has yet to be given the title of royal scientist. Should that be the case, then...

Frisk shakes the terrifying thought away. The apprehensive human continues, walking over the miniature grassland and proceeding into the large stone entrance at the end of the room.

A small wave of relief washes over them once they emerge on the other side, entering the ever-familiar Underground Ruins. The surrounding violet walls show their decrepit nature with age-old cracks. Various red leaves lie on the ground in the shape of a rectangle, with a nearby neatly raked pile filling the gap between both stairways leading to the upper floor.

Toriel's intentions to make the Ruins more welcoming were good, but the execution unfortunately left a lot to be desired. At least the shoddy decorations meant she was here; a thought that makes Frisk's heart pump with anticipation. Soon enough, they'll be seeing their Mom. Whether it is the correct one they do not care. At least not at this moment. Ascending the slanted staircases, Frisk ventures into the next room-

-and finds something else of note. Normally, six rounded platforms can be found on the small room's right, requiring someone to step on a select few in a specific sequence to activate the switch on the opposite wall, and to that extent, the locked door.

But the puzzle has already been solved, and the door is wide open. Something is not right. Frisk is sure Toriel is the only monster knowledgeable of its solution. Unable to shake a foreboding sense of unease, the human breaks into a run.

As they dart through the next area, their eyes look towards the switches attached to the left-side wall. Each of the ones that are marked has been flipped. It's all Frisk can do to not crash into the next room at the speed they're going.

The dummy is gone.

The 'inanimate' object Toriel had them practice with is reduced to splinters of wood sprawled messily across the floor. What was just a suspicion is now one step away from cold confirmation. Someone else is here. And judging from the state they left the practice dummy, Frisk has every right to be worried.

So they break off into another sprint, running even faster. Every area of the Ruins goes by in a blur. Having solved each puzzle too many times to remember, the human maneuvers through them with reflexes molded by prolonged experience.
