·˚ ༘₊· ͟͟͞͞꒰➳Bundles of jewels and artifacts unlike any others rested in your hands. You neatly set the jewels down in front of the highly ornamented shrine for Bone and Skull, the Goddesses of Thievery. They both were major inspirations to you, your idols. Most of your time was dedicated to stealing jewelry, family heirlooms, expensive tapestries, and anything else to momentarily suffice the greedy heart of man. Each day, you prayed that the goddesses would respond to your efforts, yet nothing. It was frustrating at times, as you swore you were the only person who even so much as regarded them as major goddesses, but kept pushing regardless so your efforts would one day be met with praise.
One day, you decided to gift the goddesses with an excruciatingly important belonging of yours. A necklace from your late mother. It was foolish, but if the goddesses saw what you were willing to give up, it might just work. You started at the necklace for a long while, kneeled in front of the shrine. Looking up, the tapestry of the twin goddesses sat atop. A lump in your throat built up, they were all you had. Finally setting the necklace around a candle, you placed your hands on your knees and closed your eyes. Silence.
"What was I thinking?" You said to yourself. It was clear they weren't to respond. Or so it seemed at first. You sighed and with a heavy heart, you stood up and walked away from the shrine. But at that moment, the fortunes mingled and clinker. An orange glow emitted from the the tapestry, and you looked back to see two short figures forming behind you.
"Ahh! I can't see!" Bone shrieked as her head came out backwards. Skull rolled her hollow bright red eyes and slapped her sister's head back in place. "So much for a grand entrance..." Skull shook her head disapprovingly. Both of their eyes landed on you, and large smirks grew on their bony faces. "Ah, or favorite admirer! Well, only admirer, but does that matter? Mortal, we have seen how much you have done to steal from others, and grant us their fortune!"
But you couldn't respond, as you stared at them with your mouth slack-jawed. They were here, in the flesh! Well more like in the bones but whatever. Then you remembered to kneel in respect, so that is what you did, getting on your knees and putting your hands before them.
"Oh mighty goddess-" You started but were quickly interrupted by the goddess.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa mortal! There is no need for formalities here!" Bone beamed and lifted you to your feet with her sister, dusting off your outfit and fixing any misplacements. "Yes! You will now be our most beloved creature in this planet for all of your deeds!" Skull and Bone pinched your cheeks, stretching your flesh in between their skeletal fingers. "Wuh, really?" You sputtered slightly in disbelief, and felt your cheeks grow warm. "Of course! Besides, we can't keep a handsome treasure like you behind. You would be a great addition to our duo, and we'll take you on adventures unlike any others! This is not up for debate by the way..." Skull giggled as she started running her finger under your chin.Bone was angered by this and pulled you from her sister's grasp, wrapping her arms around your shoulder and leaning in real close, causing a shiver to run down your spine. "We might also need a big strong man like you to keep us ladies safe." The skeletal goddess cooed as she pressed her forehead against yours, you could practically smell the earthy perfume. Your heart beat rapidly, as you felt like they already knew how much you yearned for them. Skull pulled her sister off of you by the collar of her raggedy shirt, causing Bone to yelp. Skull stared into your eyes as she smiled, and you couldn't hold this prolonged eye contact, so your gaze went to the floor. Then, Skull grabbed your face and directed it towards hers. "Aw, don't look away from this beauty now pretty boy." The thief goddess spoke in an almost taunting tone, but that was until her sister pulled her away from you once more.
The sisters started to fight each other, even involving their swords in this squabble. You timidly tapped your fingers together as there wasn't much of a way to get them to calm down. Yet it wasn't entirely impossible. Swiftly, you grabbed a gold plate and a spoon, before banging them together. The twins immediately stopped as they stared at you with wide eyes. "Ladies, there's no need to bicker! I... I care greatly about you both, so quit fighting... please?
Your voice quickly faded into a whisper as you saw their mischievous smirks."Sister did you hear that? He care greatly about us, oh he's so cute!" The goddesses rushed to your sides and played with the jewelry on your body. "I really wanna keep him now." Skull pet your hair as she spoke. Meanwhile, Bone opened a portal with her sword back to their own home.
"C'mon mortal, you're ours now!" Both the twins grabbed your hands and led you through the portal to their beloved home. Your life was no longer a bore, as you were now side by side with your beloved goddesses and living the life of adventure.
