"Vivah sampann hua (The marriage is completed)

It hurts bad when you're trying to do the right thing, but it all goes wrong. I wanted to save one sister, and it ended up ruining the other one's life.

He once told me that I'm here to mess up people's lives, and sadly, he was right.

"Ishi jhumar ke niche milegi di ki freedom ki laash. (Underneath this chandelier, you will find the corpse of Di's freedom)" I mumbled, probably louder than a cat trying to open a bag of chips at midnight.

I did a quick 360-degree paranoid scan to make sure my brilliant commentary went unnoticed. But, surprise, surprise, I locked eyes with the dude I'd had a showdown with earlier.

He smirked the moment our eyes locked.

As I walked back into the venue, my palms were sweaty from nerves. Titash was talking a lot, but honestly, I wasn't paying attention. It's not worth it. She can repeat herself if needed.

"So, where's my 5000 rupees?" she asked casually, reaching for a plate of chaat from the counter.

Absently, I responded, "And what exactly am I paying you for?" My mind was elsewhere, consumed by thoughts of what was happening with my sister. She had run away – that much was clear. But what next?

"I completed your assignments, dude. You owe me," she said between munches on the snacks.

"Okay, now I remember," I replied, recalling our arrangement.

You see, I've been doing some stand-up comedy gigs lately, you know, to earn some extra cash. Initially, it was just about the money, but as time went on, I started loving it. I mean, I was always a bit of a clown, and if I could make people laugh, why not make some money out of it?

"But I—" I began, attempting to bargain.

The truth was, I did earn some money, but I ended up giving it all to my mom. She needed it more than I did. I was tired of hearing Maami's constant taunts.
