It was a Tuesday.

Jeromy and I were sitting at the tree at school.

It was lunch.

"Oh look, there's loser 1 and loser 2." I heard a familiar, deep voice from behind me.

There was laughter behind me. I sighed.

It was James.

James is my high school bully. He bullies Jeromy and me because we're gay. And, to him and his homophobic buddies, being gay is "weird" and "not normal."

I decided to ignore him. It's best to ignore bullies.

"Leave us alone, James." Jeromy snarled.

"Im not going to leave you 2 alone until you admit that being gay is disgusting and not normal and that you should be straight." He snarled.

Oh yeah, James thinks that every gay wants to be gay, but that's not true. We didn't wake up 1 day and say

"Hey, I'm gonna be gay."

Cause that didn't happen. And we can't just turn straight in a few seconds. That'll be impossible.

"Just ignore him. He's craving for negative attention." I whispered in Jeromy's ear.

He nodded his head. I saw Ruby walk up to us.

"Why don't you grow a fucking brain and leave them alone," Ruby said to James.

James didn't say anything back.

He's probably thinking of a remarkable comeback.

"You see, that proves he doesn't have a brain. Did you lose all your brain cells in school or trying to shit out that big ol shit that's stuck in there?" She asked.

James muttered something and stormed away.

"Thanks, Ruby," I said, smiling.

"Yeah, thanks, Ruby," Jeromy said, smiling.

"No problem." She replied, smiling.

She walked away. We continued eating.

It was 10 minutes later.

The bell rang.

We groaned, then stood up, hugged and said bye. We started walking our separate ways.

I have English.

It was a minute later.

I arrived.

I stood next to the wall and waited for the teacher to arrive.

I saw Ruby walking up to me. She stood next to me but didn't say anything.

Then, I saw James and his homophobic buddies walking towards me. I looked at Ruby, and she glared at James and his friends. James said bye to his friends, and then they walked away. He stood next to a girl I don't know. Ruby stopped glaring at him. The teacher arrived. He unlocked the door and opened it. Everyone piled in. I sat down, and Ruby sat down next to me.

"Today, class, we'll be doing a persuasive writing. And you'll be working in pairs. But I'll get to choose." He said.

I was exhausted, and I couldn't leave them open anymore. I fell asleep.

I woke up to someone calling my name.

I opened my eyes and realised that I had fallen asleep on Ruby. Her arm was around my shoulder.

Oh shit.

"The bell went. You should get up." Ruby said softly.

I stood up, and for some unknown reason, I smiled at her.

What's wrong with me?

Ruby smiled. She stood up, too. We walked out of the room. We started walking to my place.

"What happened when I was asleep?" I asked.

"The teacher assigned you and James to work on persuasive writing. And he wasn't too happy about it." She snarled.

I don't know why she's angry.

"It's because he's homophobic and you're gay. He bullies you. I don't want you to get bullied by that asshole." She snarled.

"Oh fuck, you're right," I said nervously.

Ruby stopped and put her hands on my arms.

"Whatever happens between you 2, I'll protect you. I won't let that jerk bully and hurt you." She said calmly.

I nodded my head.

"Can I work with you instead?" I asked.

"Sure." She replied.

All of a sudden, I was pushed to the ground.

I felt a sharp pain in my side.

"Do you think that I'll take orders from you?" James asked.

Ruby grabbed him by the neck. Her eyes glowed red with hatred, and her sharp white fangs appeared. I pleaded with my eyes for her to stop, but she didn't. Ruby sunk her fangs into his neck, and I could see the life being sucked out of him. There was blood dripping down James's neck and Ruby's mouth.

I was terrified.

I couldn't move.

I wanted to look away but couldn't.

It was horrifying seeing his life being drained from his body.

Ruby removed her fangs and cracked his neck. She wiped the blood from her hand.

"He beat up lots of gay people. Luckily, he didn't beat up you. You go on home. I'll get rid of his body." She said it so casually.
