I had been laying in my room for several hours, scrolling through my phone aimlessly, and trying my best to keep myself occupied as I suffered from boredom in the loneliness of my bedroom.

Kiara had sent me a text inviting me to go to the Summer Movie Series with her and the boys. When Kie and I were younger, we would go together all the time. When she had befriended Sarah, the three of us were regulars as well. It was something I looked forward to every summer with her.

Initially, I wanted to decline the invite.

After all, I was embarrassed about what Topper and Rafe had done to Pope. I knew now that Pope probably wanted nothing to do with me. And it had only been hours previously that JJ and I had gotten into an argument that I wasn't exactly over.

However, I figured this would be a good opportunity for me to let Pope know that I was on his side. So, I happily sent the message that I would tag along, before rushing to my closet and picking out the perfect outfit that screamed, "Pope, I'm really sorry."

After settling on overalls and a white t-shirt, I threw on some sneakers before rushing down the stairs and beginning my hunt for the car keys. Our dad was out of town again for business, and our mom had gone out to dinner with some of the other mom's on Figure Eight, leaving Topper and I with one car to share for the evening.

I skipped down to the kitchen, ignoring the three boys as they all stared at me from the couch, opening cabinets and searching around for the keys. I grabbed a granola bar as I searched, looking high and low, before Topper cleared his throat from the living room, catching my attention.

"Can I help you find something?"

His irritating voice sent a shiver down my spine, and I visibly cringed as he spoke. Reluctantly, I turned to meet his gaze and sent him a fake, exaggerated smile.

"Actually, yes. Where are the keys to the Jeep?"

Topper begins to laugh, standing up from the couch and meeting me on the other side of the kitchen island. "You're not driving the Jeep anywhere, tonight."

I cock my head to the side, blinking several times as I stared at him. "And what authority do you have that you get to make that decision?"

"I'm the oldest," he shrugs.

I roll my eyes immediately, "The oldest and yet, still the dumbest."

His jaw clenches and fake laughs at my statement, standing up and taking a long swig of his drink.

"You're not getting the Jeep keys, I need them tonight."

I groan dramatically and smack my hand on the marble, "You always have the Jeep. I literally am asking for the keys once."

He holds in hands up as he shrugs, giving me a sympathetic smile. "No can do, Josie. Guess you're shit outta luck."

I walk around the island, following him close behind as he walks back to the living room. I reach out for him and pull on his shirt, and forcing him back to me. He hisses, pulling the shirt from my grasp and swatting my hand away.

"Knock it off!" he whines, and I stick my bottom lip out, pouting at him as I clasp my hands together.

"Please, Topper," I beg him. "Pleaseeee!" I cry out, dragging the word out in a child-like voice and reaching out for his hands.

"You're so annoying, Josie, Jesus Christ," he mutters, ripping himself away from my grasp. "Why do you need it so bad anyways?"

I stand up and regain my composure, shifting the weight on my feet as the three of them awkwardly stared at me.
