A few more days into Ben and Larry hanging out together and Ben still hasn’t told Larry about his family. He felt terrible for keeping that big of a secret from the person he loved the most, but he didn’t have the right chance to tell him.
Then, one day, Ben was cooking dinner and Hannah came to him. She said: “Dad?” “Hmm?” Ben said, looking at her. She said: “How is it going with that date of yours?” Ben smiled and said: “Good. Very good, actually. It’s great.”
Hannah smiled and said: “So, will you tell me her name?” Ben looked at Hannah and said: “Name? You wanna know…her name?”
Hannah smiled and said: “Yeah. Maybe it’s gonna be serious. I want to know who are we talking about.” Ben leaned against kitchen counter and said: “Well, I think…I don’t really wanna rush it.”
He looked down and Hannah could tell something was wrong. She said: “Is there anything you want to share, dad?”
He looked at the floor and said: “I…actually…” She took a step closer and he said: “No. Nothing. Really. Dinner will be ready soon, go call your sister.”
Hannah said: “Dad, you don’t have to hide anything from me.” “Go call your sister.” Ben said and Hannah left.
Ben grabbed his phone and texted Larry, saying: ‘Free tonight?’ Larry answered: ‘Yeah. Wanna come over?’
Ben texted: ‘Sure. Gonna be there at nine, that ok?’ ‘Sure. Great.’ Larry answered and Ben smiled to himself.
Ben asked Hannah to look after Chloe for a few hours and she agreed.
As Ben laid on a sofa, his head on Larry’s lap and they watched a TV, Ben said: “Babe?” “Yup?” Larry answered, going through the TV channels. Ben said: “I have something to ask you.”, and sat up. He got up and pulled Larry to his feet. Larry said: “What are you doing?”, and Ben pulled him close.
He kissed him and said: “I have a little proposal. I didn’t really want to do it too fancy; I’m not getting down on one knee. But I want to ask you, if you’d like to make this official?” Larry looked in his eyes and smiled. He said: “Are you sure? I’m weird and gross and awkward and…”
Ben cut him off kissing him and then he said: “And one step from being just mine. So?”
Larry nodded and they kissed deeply, completely in love with each other. This was when Larry realised that Ben actually is the one, he’s been looking for all of his life.
