Chapter 5: Seeking Demonic Beasts

Lu Ruxin spent a few days in the hospital, feeling better, and insisted on leaving. She returned to Yecheng with her mother and buried her brother. Kneeling at his grave, regretful tears fell. The mistakes of the past couldn't be undone; she could only carry the responsibility left by her brother.

After the funeral, Lu Ruxin and her mother cleaned up their home. Despite financial difficulties, her mother rented a more comfortable two-bedroom house for Lu Ruxin.

That night, in her room, Lu Ruxin urgently communicated with Little Dream, "How do I find demonic beasts? Should I hunt them during the day or at night?"

Little Dream yawned, "Hunting demonic beasts is mainly done at night, especially in the city. They rarely come out during the day."

"How do I hunt them? Do I need weapons? We can't use guns in our country; I'll bring my mom's kitchen knife at most."

"In the city, demonic beasts are hard to find. Let's take a stroll outside, and the Beast Ring will provide weapons. With your knives and spears, demonic beasts won't be afraid. If you don't kill them quickly, they might get you first."

Lu Ruxin reluctantly followed the instructions, relying on Little Dream to navigate her challenging situation.

Once her mother was asleep, Lu Ruxin quietly left home and wandered the streets. Pedestrians were scarce, occasional cars sped by, and homeless people rested under bridges.

Yecheng was well-lit, with street lamps along the way, avoiding excessive darkness. Lu Ruxin rarely went out at night, feeling a bit uneasy.

"Little Dream, where are the demonic beasts? Yecheng's security is good, and it's unsafe for a young girl like me to go out at night. Consider my safety," Lu Ruxin requested.

Little Dream, seeming more energetic, retorted, "With your stature and malnutrition, who cares about you? Don't worry; ordinary thugs won't come near you. Do you think the weapons Grandma provided are useless?"

Ignoring the remark, Lu Ruxin defended her appearance, and, motivated by Little Dream's comment, decided to improve herself.

Walking through the deserted streets, Lu Ruxin asked, "Which way to the alley? Is it safe? Are there demonic beasts there?"

"Don't hesitate. Go in. Demonic beasts usually hide in the dark. Don't be scared. Once the demonic beast runs away, you'll be afraid of the dark. Demonic beasts are hidden in the darkness," Little Dream reassured.

"Okay." Lu Ruxin gritted her teeth and entered the dark alley, donning a mask. Trying to retrieve her weapon, she found nothing. "Little Dream, didn't you say you'd provide weapons? How do I get them?"

"I only told you to watch someone else hunt demonic beasts, learn from it. Those level beasts aren't for you to handle. It's just observation; no weapons are provided."
