Uncovering old truths

Karan and Monami's little nap was interrupted when they woke up to a thud and noticed Reena standing in their room. Monami was embarrassed as she realised she was sleeping close to Karan, with her head on Karan's torso and her arms around him.

"Tu to hamare kamre mein aise nahi aane wali thi na?" Karan questioned Reena while rubbing his eyes, as he and Monami sat up on the bed.

"Maine knock kiya tha, maasi bhi aawaaz de rahi thi, tumne jawaab nahi diya to mujhe aana pada" Reena justified. "Tune khud to phone karke bulaya na mujhe. Isliye main jaldi jaldi mein aa gayi. Mujhe koi shauk thodi hai roz roz tumhara romance dekhne ka."

Monami blushed at the mention of the romance and fixed her dupatta.

"Ab kaise jaana hai doctor ke paas, teri bike pe ya taxi bulayein?" Reena asked.

"Tujhe phone Kar raha tha kyonki maine appointment  change Kar ke do din baad ki li hai, kyonki wo mujhe aur Monami ko zyada suit karta hai" Karan said and smiled at Monami who was surprised....pleasantly surprised.

Karan walked outside the room with Reena and Monami following him.

"Par mera jaana important hai, I am aware of treatment history and your progress, medications etc....." Reena started to insist.

"Glad to see your concern Reena, but I assure you tumhe uski chinta karne ki zaroorat nahi hai." Monami intervened, surprising Karan and Yashoda. "Dr Sharma ko Karan ke liye maine hi select kiya tha .. wo mujhse consistently Karan ki treatment and progress report share karte the. I am aware of all the details, milestones, medications, lines of treatment etc."

"What?" Karan was surprised.

"Tum uss time upset the mujhse, so I had to stay behind the scenes, but I was involved." Monami shrugged and explained to a surprised looking Karan.

"Aapko pata hai Karan ka kaunsa ligament rupture tha? Uske Ankle mein kya issue hua tha? Uski....." Reena questioned with surprise

"Haan pata hai, uska right knee ka ligament and tendons damage the but wo over time heal ho gaye teh and ankle boots to maine khud select kiye the Karan ke routine ke according." Monami explained to a worried Reena. She paused for a second and continued. "Listen Reena... I am in no way undermining what you did for Karan, you were there when he needed, selflessly. You offered constant support to Karan. You have done a lot. But I know enough to take over. It will be selfish of us to take more of your help given the changed situation. You need to give all your time to yourself now"

Yashoda walked near to Monami and put her hand on Monami's head and smiled at her.

Reena looked at Karan.

But Karan agreed with Monami. "Monami sahi keh rahi hai. Tune already itna kiya hai ki mera har sorry aur thank you kam pad jaye. Par ab tu khud ko prioritise kar. Main theek hoon ab. Monami hai mere saath, tere upar already kitni responsibilities hain , mere treatment ki responsibility drop Kar sakti hai tu." Karan made Reena sit on sofa.

Monami continued "aur hum Reena ko enough thank you nahi keh sakte but chai to pila sakte hain. Aaj Reena ke liye chai main banati hoon" Monami said excitedly.

Karan quietly walked near Monami and Yashoda, and whispered in a low voice, "Monami.. chai tum banaogi?"

Monami: "haan"

Karan: "Monami I know Reena ne galti kari hai , aise nahi aana chahiye tha hamare room mein but tum uss baat ki itni badi sazaa to mat do"

Yashoda burst into laughter and Monami made a grumpy face. "Tumhe bhi peeni padegi ab."
