After Christmas break, Jessie continued to improve her game. Jessie and Niamh didn't spend as much time together as they used to. Jessie started to hang around Sam more. Jessie was at Sam's apartment when she received a text from Niamh. Niamh: Hey, I know it's been awhile since we last hung out. Can you please come over tonight? Jessie didn't know what to do. Of course she missed Niamh but she felt weird hanging out with her alone. Sam could tell something was wrong. Sam asked "What's wrong?" "Niamh wants to hangout, but we haven't exactly been talking lately." "Yeah why is that? You guys were extremely close until Niamh got a...." Sam nodded finally understanding what Jessie was going through. Sam waited to respond again and said "You should just be a friend to her and text her you'll come over. I'll drop you off." Jessie: Okay. I'll come by around 6. When 6 o'clock came around, Niamh tidied up her apartment and took out a pepperoni pizza. Jessie arrived at Niamh's apartment, waving goodbye to Sam. Jessie knocked on the door. Niamh opened it up and right away Jessie could smell the pepperoni pizza. Niamh blurted out "I miss you." Jessie just stood there and finally said "I miss you too." Jessie was no longer nervous. She and Niamh picked back up right where they left before Niamh even had a girlfriend.
On April 24, 2022, Jessie scored a banger against Tottenham in the 95th minute. Jessie shot the ball from outside the box catching the keeper off her line. Magda and Pernille wanted to celebrate this awesome goal so they invited Aniek, Aslu, Niamh, and Emily. Niamh would be bringing Amy to meet her friends. Jessie was the first to show up to Pernille and Magda's home. Jessie helped set up snacks in the kitchen. Pernille came over "Are you excited to meet Amy?" Before Jessie could say anything Aniek, Aslu, and Emily walked in through the front door. Aslu said, "Thank you for having us." Aniek asked "Is Niamh and Amy here?" As if right on cue, Niamh and Amy arrived. Niamh introduced Amy to everyone. Everyone got a long well including Jessie. Jessie was quiet, at first, but opened up to Amy when she heard that Amy read all the Harry Potter books. Niamh watched Jessie and Amy's interaction and she felt like a proud mom. Niamh really cared about what Jessie thought of her girlfriend and she wanted them to get along. When Amy went to the bathroom Niamh found Jessie talking to Aslu. "Jessie, can I talk to you for a minute?" Jessie excused herself. "What's up?" "I want to know your honest opinion about Amy." Jessie knew this was coming so she put on a brave face and said, "I like her. I think she's good for you." Niamh hugged Jessie tightly "I'm glad to hear it.
At the end of the season Jessie had scored six goals and four assists. She played a big role for this season. Jessie got to win her second FA Cup with Chelsea. Jessie's family was in the stands watching her play. Niamh got to meet Jessie's family for the first time in person. Coincidentally Niamh's family was sitting next to Jessie's family. Niamh and Jessie's mom got to talking and exchanged numbers. Jessie's mom was thankful for Niamh's family for taking Jessie in as one of their own during COVID. Jessie and Niamh walked to the stands after the game. Jessie's mom said, "Niamh, it's so nice to finally meet you in person. We missed having you for Christmas." Niamh suddenly remembered that night making a promise to Jessie about Christmas. Jessie interrupted and said,"It's okay, she was with Amy." Giving Niamh a small smile. Niamh wanted to apologize right away but decided she'll do it when they get back into the locker room. Amy hollered at Niamh. Niamh went up into the stands to hug her. Jessie had to look away quickly hoping no one else saw, but of course her mom saw. Jessie's mom hugged Jessie as if to say it's okay. Jessie and Niamh walked back to the locker room together. Everyone had already cleared out and was headed straight to the party. Niamh looked at Jessie and said, "I'm sorry that I forgot I was going to spend Christmas in Canada with you." "Don't worry about it" said Jessie. Niamh wasn't going to let herself off that easily. "No, it wasn't right. I promised and I didn't keep it. Is that why you never kept in touch?" Jessie put her head down and admitted to that was the reason. Niamh felt disgusted that she somehow hurt Jessie so the only thing she could think of in this moment was to give Jessie a long hug. Jessie returned the hug and they stayed there for about 5 minutes before getting changed. Once they were ready they left to go to the party.
Niamh didn't make it into the Euro's squad for England. Niamh was sad but she was determined next season will be her year. While England was playing in the Euros, Niamh decided to take a step away from football and travel to France with Amy. Niamh needed the time off to decompress. She and Amy explored wineries and even visited the Eiffel Tower. When vacation ended they went back to their respective clubs. Niamh focused on getting better and couldn't wait to see Jessie again as she was in the CONCACAF tournament. Niamh watched Canada as much as she could. Niamh secretly had a soft spot for Jessie, but was determined to keep it in her heart and never let it out.
