Met Someone New

After the Euros, Chelsea went to the US to play in the International Women's Cup. Jessie and Niamh continued to be roommates and bus buddies. No one could separate them. In this season it was hard for Jessie to secure a starting position. Jessie continued to work hard. Sometimes she lost confidence in herself as she was playing different positions. But she gave everything she had and accepted her role as a game changer. While they were in Portland Jessie and Niamh had a photoshoot. Jessie doesn't like to take many pictures, but when she does it's usually with Niamh. Jessie has seen fans get excited anytime someone posts about her or if she was with Niamh. People just adored their friendship. The Blues had a good tournament, but lost to Lyon during the last game on PKs.

During an International camp in October, Jessie was getting close to her Canadian teammate Julia Grosso. Julia had a secret crush for Jessie and the whole Canadian team knew it except Jessie. Jessie normally roomed with Janine at camps, but this time everyone got new roommates. Julia was going to be Jessie's roommate. Julia told her best friend Jordyn that she got Jessie for a roommate. Jordyn teased her "Don't be making a fool out of yourself. Oh wait you already do that." Julia punched Jordyn and laughed. When Julia walked into her hotel room Jessie had already claimed the bed next to the window. Jessie looked up from her book and said, "I hope you don't mind, but Janine always lets me take the bed that's next to the window." Julia just nodded and said, "Go ahead it's all yours." Julia started to unpack her bag and she took out her little teddy bear that she's had since she was 9. "I didn't now you had slept with a stuffed animal" said Jessie. Julia was embarrassed and Jessie could see that so Jessie took out her moose. "Look I sleep with one too. Only Janine and now you know about this." Julia felt more comfortable now that Jessie shared a little bit more about herself. The next couple of days it was just Julia and Jessie hanging out with each other. At dinner Kadeisha made a comment towards Janine saying "Looks like Julia is stealing Fleming from you." Janine chuckled and said "Yeah she is, but that's alright with me. I haven't seen Jessie this happy in a while." On the last day of camp Julia and Jessie were packing up getting ready for their flight. Julia said "Why don't you come visit me in Italy sometime?" Jessie said, "Okay, I will."

Jessie and Julia stayed in contact. Jessie booked a flight to Italy after Christmas. With Janine's help Jessie will be asking Julia out on an official date. Jessie knew her and Julia's friendship shifted after October camp. These two couldn't stop FaceTiming each other. Julia taught Jessie some Italian and Jessie taught Julia about environmental science. Did Julia understand Jessie? No, but she was happy that Jessie was passionate about it. When Jessie got to Italy she picked up some flowers for Julia. Jessie only had three days in Italy until she had to be back in London to train. Jessie and Julia biked around Italy taking in the beautiful scenery. Jessie took Julia to an Italian restaurant called Una Volta. After they finished eating Jessie said, "Julia, will you be my girlfriend?" Julia nodded excitedly saying "Yes." Jessie leaned in and they had their first kiss. The next day Jessie was leaving to go back to London. Jessie didn't want to go but she knew she would see Julia at the next camp in France.

The next two months felt slow for Jessie. Jessie only made a couple starting positions but mainly came off the bench. Jessie told Niamh that she was dating her Canadian teammate. Niamh was happy for Jessie for finding someone. Now she and Jessie could go on double dates whenever they get the chance too with their busy schedules. As Jessie and Niamh were both preparing for the World Cup they were also getting ready to say goodbye to Magda and Pernille. The public doesn't know what will happen to their contract at the end of the season, but Jessie and Niamh did. Magda and Pernille invited Jessie and Niamh over to their house for dinner to tell them the news that they would be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season. As they were sitting at the dinner table Magda confessed "Pernille and I will not be renewing our contract with Chelsea. We will be going to Bayern Munich." Jessie and Niamh looked at each other with tears in their eyes. Jessie said, "I understand. I'll miss you both so much." Niamh hadn't said anything but she agreed with Jessie's statement. "Pernille and I want to take you both on vacation to Spain before the World Cup begins" said Magda. Both Jessie and Niamh said "Yes."  After dinner Jessie and Niamh left to go to Jessie's apartment. Niamh asked "Can I stay with you tonight?" "Sure" said Jessie. The next morning as they were getting ready for a cold training day, Jessie let Niamh borrow her sweatpants since Niamh didn't have hers. When Chelsea filmed the training session fans noticed that Niamh wasn't wearing her number but Jessie's. 

At the next Canada camp Jessie and Janine were rooming together again. Janine could tell something was bothering Jessie. Jessie and Julia barely hung out. Jessie kept telling Julia it was because she was busy. Julia mentioned to Jordyn that Jessie didn't seem like herself and she didn't know what to do. Julia also said "I saw fans comment that they thought Niamh and Jessie were together." Jordyn said "Those are just opinions. It's not true. You and Jessie are together." "I know but I've seen them interact together. It's different compared to our relationship" Julia sadly said. Jordyn didn't like seeing her best friend in pain so she decided she was going to confront Jessie.  Jordyn knocked on Jessie and Janine's door. Janine opened the door and Jordyn passed through Janine. "If you care about Julia at all you need to tell her there's nothing going on between you and Niamh" shouted Jordyn. Janine stepped in "You need to leave." and pointed towards the door. Jordyn walked towards the door and turned around lowering her voice "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. I just don't want Julia to get hurt if you don't have strong feelings about her." Jordyn walked out the door. Jessie just sat on her bed with her hands on her head not saying anything. Janine spoke up "Do you want to tell me what's going on?" Jessie spilled that there's been pressure of her performance not being the best for club. Jessie states that her and Niamh have been staying at each others apartments more often than before. "I care about Julia a lot, but I'm not sure I'm in love with her" said Jessie. Janine carefully thought out what she should say next. "Jessie, you need to be honest with her. If you don't feel the same way that she feels for you, tell her." Jessie paused and under her breath said "I think I'm in love with Niamh." Janine said "Finally you admit it." "Wait you knew?" "Of course I knew. It's been so obvious. Just you and Niamh haven't figured it out yet" said Janine. 

Jessie knew what to do next. Jessie went to Julia's room and knocked. Thankfully Jordyn wasn't there. Julia opened the door surprised to see Jessie standing there. Julia knew that whatever Jessie was going to say it would hurt her for a bit, but she respected Jessie. "I'm sorry Julia but I think we should just be friends now" said Jessie. "Is it because of Niamh?" asked Julia. "I'm still trying to figure that out, but yes I have feelings for her." "Thank you for being honest with me." Julia then closed the door getting the closure she needed.
