On July 22, 2020 Jessie Fleming signed for Chelsea F.C. She was so excited to start her professional career overseas. She just graduated from UCLA with a degree in material engineering and a minor in environmental science. She's been on the Canadian national team since she was 15. From the outside looking in it looked like she's having a great career. But what they didn't know was how hard she has worked with little to no complaints.

Jessie moved into a tiny apartment near Kingsmeadow. With the help of her parents she found decorations to put up in her apartment. She was into abstract art and bought a whole bunch of books. Jessie also had her bike with her so she could bike around town. She put pictures of her family and friends around the apartment. One special picture went to her bedroom. It was of Mallory Pugh, USWNT star forward. Even though they had little time together at UCLA these two became quite close. Some would say they were together or it was just puppy love. Jessie and Mal decided to go the long distance and would make an effort to stay in touch. Sam Kerr had reached out to her before she came over from UCLA and they became really good friends. Sam drove Jessie too trainings and games since she does not have a car.

On Jessie's first day she met Niamh Charles. They instantly hit it off. It felt like Jessie has known Niamh her entire life. For their initiation they decided to do an ABBA song together. Niamh wanted to do a dance, but couldn't convince Jessie to do one, so they stood side by side and sang "Lay All Your Love On Me." Jessie was nervous but having Niamh by her side made all the butterflies go away. There was something about Niamh that made her feel safe.

Mal came to visit Jessie for a few days in October. Jessie introduced her to Niamh, Magda, and Pernille. They went to Jessie's favorite coffee shop. While Jessie went to order everyone a coffee Magda and Pernille started to ask questions about Mal. Pernille said, " Mal how long have you and Jessie known each other?" "I met her in college, but once I decided to go pro instead, we still kept in touch" said Mal. Magda asked "How long have you been a couple?" "Just over a year" said Mal. Mal talked about how Jessie was so shy that it took her awhile to ask her out. Once they began dating everything felt right. They have done distance before as Mal lives in Washington D.C when Jessie was in LA. This is a new territory as she is across the pond. As Magda, Pernille, and Mal continued to talk to each other Niamh was in the corner being quiet. She hadn't said a word to Mal besides hello. When Jessie came back she grabbed a chair and sat in between Niamh and Mal. Mal leaned her head against Jessie's and said "Niamh, Jessie has told me all about you. I can't believe you got her to sing." As Jessie was blushing Niamh said, "oh she's not as bad as a singer as I thought she was going to be." Jessie interrupted saying "It was easy because I got to do it with you." Jessie and Niamh began to talk only to each other. Magda says to Mal "Don't worry this happens all the time. They go into their own world and act like we don't exist." Magda reassures Mal that Jessie is so happy for her to be here and wouldn't shut up about it in training. As it got dark all five of them parted ways.

Mal and Jessie were back at the apartment. Mal didn't say anything on the car ride home. Jessie was getting anxious that she might have done something wrong. Jessie asks "are you alright?" Mal says "Is there something going on between you and Niamh?" Jessie was so surprised by the question. Why would Mal think her and Niamh were something. Jessie only had eyes for Mal, sure this long distance wasn't easy, but Niamh has been there for Jessie when she starts to miss home. Jessie would consider Niamh to be her best friend given with how little time they had known eachother other. Jessie replied "No, Niamh is just a friend. She was the first person I met here and we just became close. You have nothing to worry about." Mal just shrugs taking Jessie's word for it. The next day Jessie takes Mal to the airport. They say their goodbyes and hope to see each other again in a few months for the She Believes cup.
