Alex sealed one of the last boxes in Olive's flat. A deep frustrated sigh escaped his lips as he looked around. Piles of boxes littered across the now empty room that had been Olive's home for nearly half a year.
Olive.
He hadn't heard from her since the news broke out. This was the longest they've gone without talking or seeing each other since they've met. Alex figured that maybe this time, he did cross the line a bit too far.
"C'est amusant." The young man remarked, carrying another pile of boxes into the living room.
Alex gave him a look. "Maybe if you showed up in time, this would not be necessary." He retorts back in French- the language they were both most comfortable with.
"I told you I came as soon as I heard." The man rolled-up his sleeves that had fallen to his wrists. He couldn't quite believe how bad things had gotten in such a short amount of time but he knew he was partly at fault too. He had massively fucked up by being off-grid the one time he should not have been off the grid.
"You should've been there for her." Alex grumbled.
"It wouldn't have changed anything." The man shrugged.
The old friends continued to argue in French, throwing blames at each other and pointing fingers. It would have been another full blown fight between the two if they weren't interrupted by a knock on the door.
The first thing that Dom noticed when Alex opened the door to welcome them in was his his right cheek that had a pretty large bruise starting to form.
"Hey. Thank you for coming." He smiled at Letty and Dom. Or at least tried. Alex flinched when his smile reached his still hurting cheeks.
"Of course." Letty nodded though still visibly confused as to how Alex acquired a bruised cheek and a scratch near his left eye.
"Bonjour?" The two heard someone spoke from inside. Alex stepped aside and revealed the boy which Dom guessed couldn't have been more than twenty. He wore a simple khaki colored half-button down polo shirt that matched his light shade of brown hair - and of course, his significantly red nose which probably bled at some point earlier in the day.
"Ethan, this is Dom and Letty. Letty, Dom, this is Ethan - Olive's brother."
Ethan quickly made his way across the room, almost tripping on some boxes along the way.
"Comment ça'va?" He greeted, holding out his hand to the pair in which Dom shook in return.
"English." Alex mumbled under his breath.
"Apologies for that." He chuckled. "What I meant is that it's nice to finally meet the two of you." Ethan smiled. He can see the resemblance between his sister and her mother right off the bat. They were extremely similar yet incredibly different at the same time.
It was quite unnerving finally meeting the birth parents of his sister without her.
"You know us?" Letty questioned as they entered the flat. She wondered how she had never seen or even heard about Ethan during her time running with Owen's team. His name was never even brought up just until recently, and even then, a debate between Alex and Eric ensued on wether it was the right call to make. Still, they never told them the reason why.
"Of course. I was...briefed.. on the..uh.. current situation."
"Any idea how she's doing?" Dom asked.
"We had a falling out...a couple of years ago." Ethan confessed. "We're not exactly speaking terms either."
"She benched him long before us. He's honestly no help at this point." Alex shrugged in disappointment. He stood on the doorway of another room on the far left corner and gestured for the Letty and Dom to follow him.
