Drinking in the middle of the night was something Dominic Toretto hasn't done for a while. Ever since Letty came back and Olive's identity was revealed, they had become his priority. Everything else came second in Dom's life now. It was nowhere near easy- between the fact that his wife can barely remember and the ever-changing mood swings of Olive's- but he was thankful. More than thankful actually. Not many people gets a second shot in life but he did.

Both Letty and Dominic had long ago accepted the fact that they may never see their only child again the moment they let her go yet their she was, more than a decade and a half later, showing up in their base of operations in London, battered and bruised but still the same little girl she always was.

And Letty. The last time he was supposed to see her was that night in the Dominican Republic, when he thought that he was keeping her safe by leaving. Then the phone call from Mia came and the last pieces of his world came crashing down on him yet here he was, less than a decade when he thought that the last piece of the family he was supposed to build was gone, standing outside his house where both his daughter and wife are safely inside.

As of now.

Alex and himself, earlier in the day, had finally had that conversation he's been dreading to hear since the day Alex had convinced Olive to stay in California for the time being. Dom knew that one day their borrowed time with Olive will come to an end and that conversation they was coming. Although he's been expecting it to happen, it still took his breath away when the words "plans" and "Italy" came out of Alex's mouth.

He knew that this time there was no convincing or bribing Olive to stay in California longer. This time she really was going to leave and they won't have a say in it.

There was a plan. They had a plan. They were going to make Olive see that she belonged with them. That she has a place to call home. That she no longer needs to leave and move from place to place. She could stay here. With them. With her family. They had six months to do it. And they failed.

She was planning to leave again. Quietly making arrangements here and there for her impending departure.

Dom couldn't quite understand why. She had always seemed at ease with Alex's decision to stay in California. She followed his lead and stayed with him but Alex worries that it was no longer the case now. She was going to leave with or without him by her side. There was no arguing about that.

Everything has been going smoothly the past few months. Both Olive and Alex had started working on the garage during weekdays and Alex even manages to drag Olive with every now and then for the afternoon Sunday barbecues.

Olive proved to be a fine mechanic herself although she was more used to building things rather than fixing cars, she definitely knows her way under the hood.

Although Olive's relationship with Letty still proved to be a difficult task for both parties involved, even that seemed to be getting better by the day. They've both worked on a car together a few weeks earlier and sometimes even Olive herself would start small talks with Letty in effort to somehow ease the tension between them. It was incredibly slow and painful steps but they were making progress to mend their relationship at least. A relationship that was played upon by fate and glued together by blood.

They've all been used to her presence no matter how unfazed she claims to be. They did miss a lot of important milestones in her life but Dom was glad he was there to witness her drive her first muscle car.

Their relationship was slowly mending itself with time and effort but six months was such a short time to make do of everything that happened. Progress has been made but they all have such a long way to go.

Especially for Olive.

She is very young yet the whole family knows that she's been through more than all of them combined. Both Letty and Dom had seen it for themselves how vulnerable Olivia Shaw can be no matter how strong and brave she is. Like anyone who's been through hell and back, she carries a ghost with her that they hope one day they can take.

" Can't sleep?" A grin forms on Dom's lips knowing who exactly the voice belongs to.
