The next two months was a blur for the Toretto family. They could all feel the time ticking, like a bomb waiting to explode. They still had a few weeks to go before Thanksgiving but the anxiousness of what may happen when that day comes had spread like a wildfire. Even with the arrival of Eric Roche, a doctor and a close family friend of The Shaw's, did nothing to calm the crashing waves of emotions running inside and outside the house.
Eric's arrival had been a surprise for everyone. But his timing couldn't be better. His only reason for being in Los Angeles was Olive's extended absence but his presence meant more familiar faces for the girl and more help for those who bear the weight of the truth.
Dominic was usually the type of person who had a plan for each job the team does, however, this time, he came up empty-handed. All of them came empty-handed. There was no easy way of telling the truth with minimum damage. Everything was at risk and they knew they had to do it sooner rather than later.
Their numerous attempts of easing the strained relationship between Olive and Letty have failed time and time again. A disastrous lunch between the two was the last straw of that strategy. It became clear to everyone that that wasn't going to happen. At least not before Olive knew the gravity of their relationship and how they had and have always been connected with each other.
The day it happened started out like any other day in the Toretto household. There was nothing special about that thursday except for the bad weather, nothing big. They had no plans whatsover, everyone went about their day as usual. Olive was nowhere to be seen that thursday and so was Alex but there was nothing new about that either. They've been a regular at the house and at the garage for the last few months but there would still be times where they or she would skip out the festivities for days at a time. Everyone learned to respect her space and appreciate the times when she would graze them with her presence.
It was just another usual day for everyone until dinner came and all hell broke lose and everything fell apart.
"Olive?" A gasp escaped Letty's lips as Olive stood in the middle of their living room, drenched in rain from head to toe.Her clothes clung tightly to her petite figure and her chest heaved, as if she had ran a marathon before coming to the house.
Everyone's head whipped around to see Olive's dripping figure. "Oh, my God." Letty was the first one to react. She was out of her seat in a flash and disappeared into the kitchen to find a towel for the shivering girl.
Dom stood from his seat as well. He knew something was ung up with Olive or she never would have showed up in their house unannounced. And definitely not in this weather.
"Olive, is everything okay?" Mia asked from her seat. She and Brian shared a nervous look. They could feel the tension in the room steadily growing by each passing second.
Letty returned from the kitchen with a towel on her hand. Out of pure instinct, Letty headed straight towards the young girl to hand over the towel and help her out of her dripping wet clothes but almost ironically, Olive took a step back from her, also out of instinct.
Letty stopped dead on her tracks when Olive took a step back. Half of the reason being to not drive the girl away (though she wondered how that could even be possible now where their relationship stands) and the other half was that a heart stopping pain washed over her entire body after seeing Olive's reaction to her gesture. Letty wondered how could she be miserably failing as a mother by literally doing anything all the time. Maybe this is my karma for everything that I've done. And that would have been fine for her. It would have been fine if she was the only one suffering but looking at her daughter's eyes right now, she ould see that her pain was nothing compared to what Olive's pain is like. She would have gladly take her agony and carry it on her own shoulders if she could.
"Take it." Letty held out the towel. Olive remained unmoving in her spot, her eyes lowered. Dom kept his eyes on Olive who seemed to glaze over for a moment, her mind far away from where her body stood.
" You'll get sick." She pleaded again, her eyes speaking the words she could never say.
As if on cue, Olive returned to reality and her eyes stinging with tears. She met her mother's eyes and lifted the half-soaked papers she gripped with a shaking hand.
" When were you going to tell me?"
